2019 Dyxum July Prime Weeks

Welcome to the Dyxum July challenge for 2019!

The past years we have had many questions asking if we can we do other prime weeks next to week 50. Well, like last year, this year July will give you the chance to do this.

This summer, we are inviting members to take part in a challenge designed to use your classic primes.

The challenge starts Saturday June 30 with a Training Weekend to test your lenses. Then we have:

Week A: 20-29mm primes (or taped zoom end)
Week B: 35-45mm primes (or taped zoom end)
Week C: 70-90mm primes (or taped zoom end)
Week D: 100-135mm primes (or taped zoom end)
All shots for each week should be taken at the same focal length. So you can use different lenses as long as they have the same focal length.

As you can see in the schedule, there are no dates given for the weeks. The purpose of this is to give you complete freedom in choosing the moment that you make and post your photos as long as you make your photos between the start date (July 1) and the end date (July 28) of the challenge.

This is the most flexible Dyxum challenge ever . You can even do all four weeks in one week! .
In the first week of July I will post 4 Day threads every day, one for each week. So at the end of the first week, all Day threads of the challenge will be open for your contributions; and you have complete freedom to fill them with your photos.

Each participant can post 7 photos per week, one per day. Try to post in each daily thread if you can. Naturally, there will be outtakes threads for very enthusiastic members and for pics that didn't quite make it into the main threads. Also, don't worry if you can't commit to 7 each week - maybe try 3 or 5 each week; also: if you can't commit to 4 weeks: do 1, 2 or 3 weeks.

This challenge is for everyone! It does not matter if you are a professional or a beginner. Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it. The goal is to go out shooting and have fun!

Rules
1. Only one pic per member in each daily thread.
2. A or E mount cameras only. Any lens goes.
3. Comment on other photographs in the Talk Thread as much as possible
4. You may like to add extra challenges on top such as Pic a Day, "No flowers", Selfies Only - use your imagination here but stick to rules 1-3 as well. State your additional challenge when you sign up below.

Ah Leo, these rules are a true vacationers delight

I can see no reason not to join.

My main stable of lenses will be:

Week A: Tamron Adaptel 28/2.5 (I have several other 28 mm lenses that I might or might not use)
Week B: Voigtländer Heliar 40/2.8 (the only 40 mm I have)
Week C: Leica Elmar M 90/4 and/or Leica M Elmarit 90/2.8
Week D: Olympus OM Zuiko 135/2.8 (the only 135 mm I have )

I'll try pic-a-day but not sure I'll manage, we'll see.

And my other challenge is clear: manual focus only
Mind the bandwidth of others, don't link pictures larger then 1024 wide or 960 pix high, see here

A bit? The understatement of the year. Sorry Anand, that is asking too much!

Sony RX1 series are really e-mounts at heart, I see them as FE's ancestors
Well I just thought it embraced the philosophy of this challenge more so than my 24-105mm which one could use to complete the entire challenge

I guess I'll play. I suppose the tentative setup will be:
A) This is tough choice, but I guess I will stick with 24 mm (at least FE 1.4/24 GM, perhaps some zoom wide ends and maybe even ye olde Minolta)
B) Hmm, even tougher choice, contenders are 35 mm (CZ 2.8/35 + maybe CZ 4/16-35), 37 mm (Mir-1) 40 mm (Pentax 40 mm pancake) and 45 mm (Minolta MD 45 mm) - can't make my mind on this yet...
C) Again, can't decide right away... Either 85 mm (FE 1.8/85) or 90 mm (FE 2.8/90 Macro G)
D) 135 mm for sure (Minolta 135 STF and CZ 1,8/135)

And I will reserve an option to shoot also with other lenses in other focal lengths in addition to the ones mentioned above if I encounter situations where I want to photograph subjects that cannot be properly captured with the challenge focal lengths.

I was wondering this morning whether the July challenge would be on this year, and what format it would have. Next time I check here it is! I'm in!

I think I need to reread the rules to work out what to post when. First thought at lenses are 28mm week A, 35mm week B (no other choice in that range), te
mpted to 90mm for week C and torn between 100 and 135mm for week D, probably 135mm if the previous week is 90mm.

Ine, this challenge is almost messing-up-proof, so welcome aboard!
