Wishing you all a bubblicious Meyer Year in 2020

A7ii + Meyer Görlitz Trioplan 100/2.8

And here's a link to the 2019 Meyer thread

For completeness, here is the list of all the previous 'Meyer' threads:

Nice image to start with. I hope to participate more in 2020. It was mostly a hosting issue for me and the usual division of my time.

Let's see where Meyer takes us this year. Thanks for setting this up Pieter.

TYYY! Meyer forever!

(does this mean we can only post 2020 pics here?
still have loadsss of old Meyer pics).

< Ine,
These are gorgeous photos! The eyes are so sharp while OOF areas are soft. Is this all the lens? I must admit, I don't know Meyer at all. So I'm wondering about which lens and camera.
I am a cat person. My wife calls me the cat whisperer. Anyway, your subject is a handsome fellow. My cat, Max (Felinus Maximus) is a Siamese and he's my dog! Always stays with me and follows me everywhere. My best friend!
Kind regards,
Kelly >

TY, Kelly! he is handsome (but now he's pissed -I heard, even saw a pic and convinced that he is ;-) -.
@ a new location and therefore grounded for 3 weeks). Siamese sounds gorgeous. have we seen him- met him?

Meyer? an ancient brand, look here?
and here?
-below-
if you'd really care to know- much more info, samples and characteristics to be found under 3rd party lenses.
(you'll need an adapter and it's all manual labour > MF. many of these lenses are really OLD).

about those pics- all with A99 + Meyer Optik Görlitz Oreston 50/1.8
(not to be confused with 135mm Meyer Orestor).
1st pic pres. + an 12mm extension tube. Oreston is still a rel. cheap lens, but has a brilliant min. focus distance and therefore use it a lot. bokeh can be soap-ish and it also generates oval shaped bubbles.
-think Meyer, think bubbles? ;-) - if you check out the lens pages, you'll see what I mean.
(think it could swirl, guys? ).

I usually sharpen pics (non-destructive high pass sharpening), but you can't sharpen what isn't sharp.
and what's in focus, can't bubble?

Happy new year, Ine. I too have unpublished Meyer '19 photos but it seems that window has closed.

The Oreston will do mild swirl when conditions are perfect for it. Can't show you because they're 2019 photos

woodrim

TY, Mike! very best wishes to you & yours!

how about an extra thread for Meyer left-overs/older pics?
so we won't have expand the lens pages endlessly or would have to post, for example, a Kinon pic in the flower thread, which won't do the lens justice?

Since Leo "retired" I am now the custodian of this thread and have no problem with pictures from last year that would be posted here. As long as they're "processed" in 2020 they qualify as far as I'm concerned

My bubblicious opening shot is from 2019 as well

TYSM, Pieter! appreciated!

would you kill me if I dared to ask if 2017-, 2018 pics, processed in 2020, would be welcome too?

and @ Fred- haha.
(maybe, just maybe, I could be an empath? thinking of those who do have a Kinon?)

I've never been big on rules. Why was it important to be current year photos as opposed to just Meyer photos?

(wouldn't know ). think because the Meyer thread initially started out as the a-YEAR-with-Meyer base? everybody G.A.S., really had to worry about Fred, and so on. it was so much fun?!!
