Hi
1. Does anyone know if and where in the UK you can buy an additional hardcopy manual.
2. Can you get this manual on the iPhone 4S?

This toy is so complicated unless I used it 3 times a week I think I'd forget how to use it! Hence nice to have a pristine manual as the amount of use I'll give this one it will be in tatters very quickly.
Er, maybe it will just stay on AUTO+

Such a shame they recently closed down all the fabulous Sony support in the UK and farmed it all out to Egypt.

I now can't understand a word they are saying; and when you've eventually decyphered what they are trying to tell you, you find out that they know jack all about the products. My new Vaio, and ES Hi-Fi, and now this camera. So you can imagine I gave up asking them for recommendations on Memory cards for the A77; when for the 3rd time she got the spelling of 'DUO' wrong!
Best Regards

Well, you could download the .pdf user manual and keep it in our laptop and/or print off a copy (finding what you need on the .pdf computer is so much easier due to the Adobe Reader search function.

As for a replacement hard copy like the original, best thing would be to go to Sony's website and either send an email or phone them. I'm sure you'll get a price and/or availability should they hold any in stock.

Get Friedman's book, like stiuskr suggested. It's 10 times more valuable than any user manual.

To be fair, its not really reasonable to ask a manufacturer to do this, and I don't think this is something you'd expect. At best they might recommend something with a Sony label on it...

Any memory card will work in it anyway - just get the fastest and cheapest out of Sandisk / Lexar or Transcend. And don't buy one on Ebay as it'll be a fake.

You don't call the manufacturer for advice on what to buy or how to use their gear. The support staff only know general stuff they can look up in the specs (if they're willing), and how to process complaints. It's unrealistic to expect the severely underpaid person on the other side of the line to be knowlegdeable about the entire range of products of all the companies they take calls for.

I bought the latest MSHX8G Sony 8Gb MS Pro-HG Duo HX from 7DayShop for £15.99 (delivered):

7DS

It has a 10 year warranty and you have the option once registered on the Sony website to download image recovery software and other stuff. I bought this as my secondary card for my A850 as it's a dual format system with my main card being a 16Gb CF type. If you can find this card cheaper (it's the current version) elsewhere, then good luck. If you have a TopCashBack account, click through them first to 7DS for the additional rebate as they're listed on their site, plus it's original.

See Sony UK information for memory cards here.

Another vote for the Gary Friedman book. I bought the A77 one this week and it is amazing. Infinitely more usefull than the Sony manual. If you buy the PDF version you also get the kindle version which you can use on your iPhone with a downloadable kindle reader. Bargain!

With regard to info on things like memory cards, lenses and other accessories your best bet is to just ask here. The knowledge within the Dyxum membership is immense. I've never needed to go elsewhere to ask a question, I've always received my answers here.
In 2012 after months of tests I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. I was 46 and suddenly life made sense. I don't mean to offend with my comments so please tell me if I do so I can put it right.
