Congrats and enjoy. I'm keeping an eye out for CaNikon future offerings. Excited about the EOS M5 announcement. Hopefully a sign that Sony will get some EVF competition soon.

With the release of the 5D mark IV there are offers on used 6D, 5D mark III and 5Ds - and they all three have their (dis)advantages.... Oh, how difficult it is to suffer from GAS

Those are Sonys in Hassy clothing.

BTW, a) does EXIF in the Hassy files identify it as something other than a Sony, and b) does Capture One for Sony support those files?

HV EXIF identifies as HV. Never mentions Sony. I don't use Capture One. Can't say.

The Alpha shutter count tool does not work on the HV.

While I get your point, and agree, mostly, that a Lexus is just a Toyota, and a Cadillac is just a Chevy, there are tangible differences that classify them as one instead of the other. An argument can be made that an a700 (and many lenses) is a Minolta in Sony clothing. Doesn't make the Sony any worse for it. Perhaps even better for it?

Fuji X-mount (X-Pro1 and X-E2) has bumped my alpha gear to the backseat. Sold my a77, all I got left is the a850 with a few basic lenses, lovely for studio use !

I enjoy the somewhat retro/barebones feel of both my systems. a850 is very much like an old SLR film camera in the sense that it lacks most tech gizmos found in most cameras these days, and the Fujis, while in a very different manner also feel retro, with the 2-tone rangefinder body, aperture setting on the lens, the dedicated AE compensation dial...

I have often considered a 2 system option with Nikon being the 2nd option, but I am financially stuck in the Sony Time Warp and quite honestly, happy with being there. I like being a bit different

Despite our local (South Africa) frustrations with Sony, there is very little Canikon can offer me personally over Sony, especially now that the A99ii is finally here.

But it was a close call. I very nearly ploughed some hard earned cash into a 2nd hand D750 + 24-70 a few months ago

I don't feel the need to add another brand.

Minolta and Sony have always been able to provide me with what I was looking for.
Advantages other brands offer have only been marginal (for what I want to do).

In addition, I like to just know by hart where the buttons, menu items, wheels etc. are. Adding another brand results in less easy handling of the camera, knowing the perfect settings for each situation and quickly adjusting as needed.

So for the foreseeable future, I will stick to A7-series and A6000. Also A-mount is out now (except for some older stuff that I keep because of the good memories ).

I have also started with Nikon nearly two years ago - alongside Sony. I bought Nikon D7100 and a used Nikkor 70-200mm.

And I have to say that D7100 with Nikkor 70-200mm F2.8 VR II is nothing short of being amazing. Especially with the focus speed and its focus tracking ability. None of the Sony cameras & lens combination I own can do that.

On the other hand, for still subjects / objects - the Sony colours are just nicer and more real IMO.

Doesn't surprise me, your D7100 is a 2013 almost top of the line APS-C camera, your A-mount cameras are much older (A700, A580) and/or completely different market (A580, A58). The 2014 A77 mark II is comparable to the D7100.
