Free morning so I headed back to check out the kingfisher nest, unfortunately the water has started rising and the burrow is almost flooded out.

A few birds I spotted this morning on a short walk from my house, showing that (if you're lucky!) you don't need expensive gear or a long drive to get some interesting pics. All shot with Sony A58, Minolta 100-300mm f4-5.6 APO, and a Teleplus 1.4x TC, mostly MF.
A Heron at the local city park lake: ![]() Now where did I put the other leg? It's here somewhere. ![]() ![]() I can see you! ![]() A few feet away, another interloper after my fish ... ![]() But the Kingfisher decides to fish elsewhere ... ![]() On a very tall tree on the other side of the lake (which is many miles from the sea) a more surprising visitor: ![]() The adult cormorant dries its wings after showing its young how to fish in a very easy location: ![]() Edited by Miranda F - 27 December 2017 at 22:52 |

Miranda F & Sensorex, Sony A7Rii, A58, Nex-6, Dynax 4, 5, 60, 500si/600si/700si/800si, various Sony & Minolta lenses, several Tamrons, lots of MF primes and *far* too many old film cameras ...

Though considered an undesirable invasive species, our native mockingbirds love the fruit of the Brazilian Pepper.
