I think you are right on both counts
It is called 'Europese kanarie' in Dutch (European Serin) And the other one is about the square fit. The bird is so small that a square photo would help 'finding' the bird (just for sure a (square) photo when it was gathering nest material) ![]() |

A pair of takapu
- crossposted from my Photo150 thread. ![]() a9 with Tamron 150-500 at 500mm, f8, ISO640, 1/4000s The birds were for a few moments framed against part of Motutara Island that was completely in the shade. The cliffs were thus very dark and led to this contrast. |

Bit of BIF practice today, boy do I need practice for the Swallows as I'm nowhere near fast enough with my tracking to keep closer subjects in the frame.

I love the tern shots Heikki
It is a bird I can watch for a long time when they hunt you captured them well. Unfortunately, terns in parts of Holland drop dead from the skies due to bird flu. They are such fun birds ![]() Edited by Dopol - 21 June 2022 at 21:15 |

These two Bald Eaglets were late arrivals this year. They did not fledge until June 1, two weeks after Audubon's official close of the Eagle season in Florida.

The Swallow-tailed Kites are starting to gather and roost at a woodland 20 miles north of me in preparation for their migration next month to South America. There are several hundred birds now but the number will increase to well over a thousand. Fortunately the birds approach for fairly easy pictures but unfortunately 99% land on the wrong side of the tree line!
