Kicking myself for missing the one feeding dive that would of had the bird dive straight at me. Bird perched straight across the river from me, waited a good 15 minutes with it doing nothing. 10 seconds after I turned my back to continue my walk I heard the splash of it hitting the water.

That sounds familiar. My archive is filled with perched birds, waiting to fly up. But never on my photos. Anyway, these flying bird shots look good.

How do they know??!!??!! Even when I hide behind a tree, I'll turn around to check something, only for a few seconds, when I turn back around the hawk evaporated!... not soaring, not on the ground, just gone ... somehow they KNOW when I'm not paying attention....
