   Long distance shots that likely could of been better had I closed the distance to the surfers. Fierce offshore winds had the surf blowing.

	Great shots! A nice set overall. #1 is just about perfect. #4&5 have a very good catch of the surfer's posture. 6&7 are very good action shots. I have a penchant for the grey scale and can't help wondering if some of these could look good with some monotone processing. TFS Sashi

	Thanks for following up on my suggestion. Since the water is reasonably monotonous and the surfers have black wetsuits, and the surf is very bright compared to the water, and the ripples can be made to stand out, I felt a conversion might help. Usually for a greyscale conversion I definitely prefer stronger contrasts plus stronger local contrasts. That can really make an image pop and have a strong punch. Purists obviously would prefer that not to be the case so YMMV depending on where your opinion stands on the opinion spectrum. A key element is being able to balance global contrasts vs. local contrasts. This will add punch to any image but is particularly powerful for a B&W. In the old days this was achieved by selective dodging and burning. It's much easier nowadays with most decent editors (my favs are Gimp, Rawtherapee, and DarkTable). For me, #10 is a winner. The water droplets in the air shine very well against the darker background of the water. The highlights on the surfer's wetsuit contrast strongly with the black color. His posture is obviously very dynamic and the subject is off centered enough and I can feel him making that turn and coming into the right of the frame. A good composition with the right shutter speed. #9 is almost the same with the added benefit of the dark surfer standing out against the bright background. #8 is also similar, actually. The white of the spray can be coaxed into showing up more contrast, as can be the water surface with local contrast enhancement. Doesn't hurt to try and you might end up liking it. Regards Sashi

	Hence why I hardly ever do B&W conversions, never know how far to push the contrast. Might be that I'm hampered by an old uncalibrated laptop screen. Think I might even brought the whites down in #8 to keep bits from blowing out.
