Show us... Rome, Italy

Show us cities of the world is your chance to show us where you live, or where you've been. Please feel free to share pictures from this location, or start a thread for a new location. The usual Dyxum content rules apply- but to assist fellow Dyxumers inspired to visit locations that are shown, please indicate where in your town/city the photos were taken.

This thread is open for C&C and for posting additional pictures. Please ONLY post pictures taken at the town or city indicated- or start a new thread.

If you wish to start a new location thread- please click 'quote' to this opening post, and copy the contents as opening text to your new thread 'show us place-name. Also post a message to the link at start of text- where I can add your location to a master list of hyperlinked locations.

I propose to see some pictures from a city, and call the thread: Dyxum City Views.

I start with my capital city, Rome. I've tried to give a different view of the eternal city, and I hope you enjoy my efforts!

My proposal is very simple. I'd like to see many threads, one for each city. Therefore, instead to have one thread dedicated to cities in general (that can be covered, for example, by street photos), it can be interesting to see a thread for Amsterdam, another one for Paris, another for Sidney, and so forth. IMHO, of course!

OK, that is at least clear.

Let's leave it to the administrators/factotems to decide about this. I see your point too, but then the cities should probably be limited to well known and widely visited cities (like Rome, Paris, London, etc.) for there are too many small cities (which in some other countries would perhaps be called villages) which would lead to only a few posts and that would blow apart the whole themed views forum.

Just wait and see what happens!

Agree with paulig's last post.

There was a thread called something like "Show us your home town" or "Show us where you live". I can't seem to find it right now, but it would be easy to start one again. This would cater for the "smaller" cities.

For now lets keep this "City Views" theme to major world cities -- like London, New York, Tokyo, etc.

Once again your photos bring back memories Girello    The church at 13 in your first post and 7 in your second looks familiar, but I can't place it. Do you know which it is? Also, riding and smoking, playing and smoking. I guess that hasn't changed, even if smoking's not allowed in restaurants etc any more...

Great sets. I really like the church interior ones. I'm surprized they let you shoot that. Which lens were you using for those shots in particular?

I previously posted photos from my last Italy travels during the Autumn of 2010 here:
http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/some-italy-photos_topic78313.html.
However, in the spirit of this particular Rome thread, here is a small sampler from some of those photos.
