   Composition assignment No 3 - Symmetry

Symmetry tends to be associated with harmony and balance, but sometimes the disturbing qualities of near-symmetry can be used to draw the eye.   

Assignment: Take a shot which relies upon symmetry.

This is one of a series of composition-based mini-assignments. 

The idea of these assignments is to think along compositional lines, experiment, and learn from each other. An index of other assignments in the same series can be found here.  

You can tackle the composition assignments in any order you like – you don't pass or fail with these assignments - you just share your take on the assignment's theme with fellow Dyxumers (although the mod/admin team may highlight shots that we think show an exceptionally good interpretation of the theme).  

We would prefer for the shots posted to be new and shot specifically with the assignment in mind.

We hope that members will take time to study pictures posted and supply helpful critique in the threads.  'Nice shot' postings are fine, but we may need to purge them out from time-to-time as part of housekeeping on the assignments. 

If you like a shot you see posted, try to think through what it is that you like about it and share that with the poster and others – that way we all learn.  

You can either submit a single picture for the assignment or a small series (please try to limit to less than 4 at a time as any more makes it difficult for people to comment on).  There is no set limit to the number of times you can attempt a particular challenge.
