And don't forget, next week is day 252, a bit of an odd length, but easily achievable with a 180mm (Sigma or Tamron telemacro) coupled with a 1.4x converter

Life is what happens to you when you're making plans for day 240. Nothing serious, just other priorities and too little time to do too many things. Hope I do better for day 250...

Day prime is all about lens lust   


Went out wednesday for day 240, but didn't have time to process until now.

Given the earlier discussion here I challenged myself to use the lens in the "normal" range from MFD (4 meter ) until infinity, so no tubes or macro.


240-1: Fallen tree



240-2: Pre WW1 bunker in the woods nearby



240-3: Entry bridge to fort Oelegem



240-4: Birch bark

That won't work anyway Fred, lens is on pre-order only at the moment. Perhaps day 200 2020, but telezooms are generally used at the long end....

I can tell that this lens (and AF capabilities in Sony cameras, especially in α9) apparently has made several Finnish bird photographers to switch from their old Canon equipment to Sony.

What? The date for 600 mm lenses in this year's challenge is 23th August 2020!

And sadly this year I am not able to produce anything for Day 240 as I have sold my FE 24-240 since it was getting so little use (apart from Day 240 shots) that it make sense to sell it (to partially finance α7R III). But for Day 250 I should be able to contribute...

Just a reminder.......

9 days to go for day 240, for me the not so excellent Enna Munchen Tele-Ennalyt 1:4.5/240mm, and then 10 more days for day 250 (for me the hardly used but excellent Meyer-Optik Görlitz Telemegor 1:5.5/250 V). It is the ill fate of the Day Primer that Prime Days are far apart this time of the year.

I don't know what it is with long FLs, I find it hard to find good subjects (except when I'm in the Zoo) and generally end up using them for macro.

If i am right, this was the prime week including Day 210.
That FL is missing, but my Telemegor 5.5/150mm + 1.4TC makes 210 mm :-)
This combo was used for some shots with the A99ii today, some with a 24mm tube to reduce the MFD.
