Or should we say "The mad hatters do Köln"
A7 + Pentacon 29/2.8 Bob had to be in Köln to pick up stem cells for delivery to Birmingham. I drove there ("only" 2 hours and a bit) to spend a few hours together shooting and talking. We had a great time as well as some unexpected photo opportunities. More pictures (and stories) will follow. |

OK, my first installment
p1: Warming up, stabilizing and waiting for dinner in a "biergarten" A7 + MC Rokkor 17/4 I know, it's not a great shot, missed focus, 1/20th handheld, iso 12800 etc., but it's the only one I have from in there. Also it's the first time I used this lens on my A7 after loaning it to Bob some time ago (before I had the A7). p2: Setting up the group shot A7 + Pentacon 29/2.8 We didn't have a tripod, so Bob's stemcell transport kit provided the makeshift support p3: Ready for the pick-up at the Köln MediaPark Klinik A6000 + E18-105/4 p4: Finishing the paperwork (very important, you don't want any mix-ups) A6000 + E18-105/4 More to come |

A very intimate DM of 2. Nice to see Bob at work, and also channelling his inner Rocky and Bulwinkle headgear.

Ah. I see that what I thought was a box found on the street to use as camera stand, really is the essence of Bob's task. (shot #2).
Good that you were allowed to see the actual exchange. Bob, were you bringing or taking? |

That was not the actual exchange, as all the names and numbers we check on the paperwork have to be kept confidential. By that time the cells were in the box and we were just finishing off the paperwork. In general volunteer couriers collect from a clinic abroad and bring them back to their own country. The exceptions are paid couriers and occasionally we are asked to take out cells if there is an issue finding a paid courier. These cells came back to the UK and will have been transplated into the patient that day or the next morning (transplanting in this case is done by connecting the bag up to a vein and allowing the contents to feed into the patient just like an IV drip). |

Great set Bob. #b7 my favourite, like the perspective. Do you have a wider photo showing that mass of locks in #b4 & #b5 in context?

The bridge is pretty thick with them... there may well be other shots that show just how prevelent they are, but I haven't got around to them as yet.

Nice set Bob, especially like b5, nicely seen! I also have a b7 but won't repost, I think we must have been standing at the same spot for that one. I also like b8, nice play of lines
Here's a few more from me (with my new aquisition) p5: Split personality (on the holocaust monument) p6: Finding a spot for your lock is tough p7: A triangle of locks p8: Dom and bridge around sunset All A7 + FE70-300 G Edited by pegelli - 22 February 2018 at 15:28 |

Great set of photos, Bob and Pieter! Thank you very much for sharing! Hope that's not one of those bridges in danger of collapsing from the weight of all the locks!
