This video explores "Yes, but how do the odd-numbered adapters (LA-EA1 and LA-EA3) behave when you're shooting video?" The answer is "it depends on your camera body - it will either focusing using really bad CD-AF or not at all."

On the plus side, when taking stills, all the great features such as subject tracking and Eye AF work just as well as if a native E-mount lens were used.

This video references an earlier video showing just how difficult it is for a camera to focus with the f/stop closed down (a theoretical problem that Sony has since overcome). The video is still worth watching just so you can understand how hard the problem was: https://youtu.be/QlBWL_UVUS8

Sony also removed the "AF System" "Contrast-Detect" option on the A9 and A6400. The disappearance of the shutter activated AF-S with the LA-EA3 while video recording could be related to that. The lack of video AF is consistent with AF-C only being supported at lower frame rates.

If the A9 can only focus the latest A-mount lenses at 10 FPS in stills mode, why expect it to focus them at 24+ FPS in video mode?
