Dyxum provides you many possibilities in the way of improving your photographic technique and aestethics. This index should be your starting point when you are looking for suggestions. If you can't find something here, make sure you also check our Articles index.
* If you have a suggestion to improve learning activities of dyxum, you can post your ideas below. Edited by Micholand - 20 February 2019 at 17:46 |

Just noticed another post of someone getting burned by ordering from online shops... so as suggested in the last post here
a topic for good and bad experiences with online stores might be of benefit to those getting tickled by the 'too good to be true deals'. Although not foolproof, or rather lie proof with people listing their experiences, I think the dyxum crowd is a LOT more trustworthy than some dodgy-biased replies (two positive amongst ten negative type of thing) you get on those 'online-shop-comparison/feedback' sites. Or maybe like the lens reviews database, it feels more personal reading a review or experience of our members in regard to anything really, and in the end if it saves someone a headache or even quite a bit of cash then its worth it. Could be similar to the "thankyou" thread, or even a collection or a unified thread of things already posted (if there isnt one already that i didnt find/see?) ps. yes I typed this as it came into my head, apologies for the 'raw data' ![]() |

There are some links to flash advice in the flash review area, but some links and/or discussion topics here would be nice. Maybe a topic regarding sports shooting for common techniques as well. Thanks!

I'll strongly second that suggestion. It's surprising that flash advise is so commonly overlooked!

the link for the astrophotography section is no longer working , just takes you to the "page not found " page.
anyone able to make this a live link again or has it been accidently wiped off the system ? ![]() |

Hrm... what about a glossary? I see a link to the DPR glossary, but IMHO that glossary is incomplete, both as to general issues (e.g. it has no entry for "ETTR" in the exposure section) and specific Dyxum (Dynax/Maxxum/Alpha) terminology (iISO, etc). Also possibly-useful would be "translation" info, both for those converting from other systems and for those of us who shoot Alpha but sometimes look at other forums (e.g. Nikon's use of DX/FX). |

BTW -- I don't see the need to explain abbreviations used for Canikon etc systems. These things take many hours to compile.

@Brettania: That is what I meant, yes thanks! I'll try to look for any problems, but my cursory glance says it's very good indeed... ![]() Where does this exist as a link/topic/etc? Is it best found using Forum-search-engine??? I was looking for a "glossary" entry amongst the "Learning Topics" and "Articles" indices, and didn't spot it. Is it a lone thread, un-linked in any of the lists-of-reference-materials...? Might be worth entries for "SR" (and MC, MD), Rokkor, Celtic, and even "Vectis," to help clarify the confused. "AF" should probably be updated to mention SAM (currently only has screw-drive & SSM), and "Ev" changed to "EV". Maybe update "DT" to something like "DT = KM/Sony lens whose image doesn't fill the 35mm film frame (intended for digial bodies with APS-C sized sensos, but FF digital bodies can auto-crop (to about half-size))" RE CaNikon topics: it's not really that I want a comprehensive "here's how CaNikon does it," but more of a "translation guide" -- for any given Amount-specific (not digital-photography-generic) jargon, what's the equivalent in Canonese and Nikonese. Granted, this is lower priority than other things might be, but IMHO has value. For example, I see we have most of the Tamron/Sigma tech-equivalents to OEM Alpha lens tech's. For example, where MinO/KM/Sony has "DT," Tamron has "Di II" & Sigma has "DC" (why not list Nikon's "DX" and Canon's "EF-S"?); where MinO/KM/Sony has "SSM," Tamron has "USD" & Sigma has "HSM"; etc. It's hit-or-miss on these... Canon's "USM" (!) is listed (without reference to comparable Amount tech) as are many of the examples I cited here... but Tamron USD isn't... but Fujinon's "EBC" (via m43 mount) is??? ![]() Still: overall, an EXCELLENT bit of work. ![]() ![]() - Steve S. |

Thanks Steve. I have been thinking the same about where it might best be shown. I will post here when I figure that out.
