Heei all,

i have recently seen a video of Mathieu Stern on Youtube. since this video i have gone down a rabbit hole of lens flocking, and noticed it is used much in telescopes. and since the minolta reflex is also a mirror lens i thought, can this improve the contrast on this lens?

now have i just bought a piece of filt to try it in an old projector lens and lens adapters to see what the image will do. if it gets much better contrast, i am tempted to do it in the reflex lens.

Does anyone of you have any experience with lens flocking?

Will you use the AF 500 Reflex adapted on an E-mount or on a native A-mount camera?
If on E-mount which adapter?

In case you use generic chinese adapter, the black-anodized inner tube of those cheap adapters are rather reflective which under some circumstances can lead to loss of contrast or in case of strong light sources at bad angles might cause bright spots.
Did this with all my generic NEX adapters, see here.

The best thing you can do to improve contrast with the reflex is to buy a third party screw in lens hood .
The longer the better.

You remove the one inch screw in hood that's currently fitted and screw in an 82mm telephoto hood such as this ; ebay link

Don't bother stripping the lens down , it's fine as it is .
Cheap third party adapters can benefit from floc, ingredients in some cases .

i am currently using the AF500mm reflex on an la-ea4 and third party adapter. i will for sure flock the inside of the cheap third party adapter but will leave the la-ea4 as it is. for the lens it was just an thought of could this improve thing? but as neilt3 points out i maybe should start with a longer lens hood.

i am curious what the results on my projector lens will be and might let you know.

but thanks for the advise!
