@ChrBra: Well done, Chister. The silhouette is not completely blacked out, but the outline is strong and effective. Have fun with your next assignment! Cheers... Brian

Cool, thanks guys! I agree about the drop shadow now that you've pointed it out. By default I use this frame nowadays, and wasn't really thinking about how it would look at the time. I can change the border later on today when I get home if you'd like. And those droppings -- if I was better at PP then I might have tried to take them out, but sadly I'm not so I guess they're staying there.

@Stinus: Stijn, The lighting is fine, but the outline does not contain enough elements to convey interest to the subject. Please try again. Cheers... Brian

@Stinus: Stijn, you have a good sense for the lighting. The subject (crane) seems to be lost amoung the other elements in the photo (lines, tower, and trees). The crane, itself, is a rather complex silhouette containing a lot of detail. One of the functions of a good silhouette is to reduce the detail and present the subject simply as a characteristic outline. The bird in #2 might have made a good subject for this assignment had you been able to isolate it against the background. Please try agian. Cheers... Brian

Well, I didn't want to copy EP1121's photo. I'll keep looking for a better scene ![]() |

From the rules:
Nice composition though (but detail and sharpness also reveal the heavy crop I think). |
