NEW Basic Assignment #5: Shape/outline Silhouette

I've just looked up how to clean the sensor - was hoping the spots were on the lens but it's all a learning curve so here goes!

Second attempt at silhouette:



Sony A58, Tamron 16-300mm @ 130mm. ISO 100, 1/500s @ f10. Straight from camera apart from resizing.

I suspect it will fail the lack of detail test - but I like it anyway.

Thanks Brian, I wasn't so sure about the composition/framing of the first one (I was remembering the 'perfectly executed' bit). I agree that it's a great subject, so I went back for another shot.

And so on to fill-in flash - should be interesting, I have no idea what to go for as yet (and only the on-camera flash with me on my holiday).

Sorry Brian - fixed.

I didn't see in the rules that these had to be done in order.
I was looking for a solution for NEW Basic Assignment #2: Leading lines but found this instead.

Excellent. I think I found some lines that lead somewhere.

@Harm vb: We generally accept one image at a time, but you had rightly considered that the first might not be a pass.

The assignment,

Take a picture that accentuates the outline of a person or object, try to create an extra impact by making the shot idealistic, simplistic and perfectly executed.

Back-light does not add impact to the garlic. However with the brooding sky behind him, the rooster, whether a lightening rod or weather vane, clearly has something to look forward to.

That's a pass.
