I have extra comment on those pics by Blue-Eyed Monkey: there is some ugly (sensor dust?) spots in the sky, the most offending pair is above the second highest spire. I know that does not really affect this assignment, but catches one's eye quite easily...

I've just looked up how to clean the sensor - was hoping the spots were on the lens but it's all a learning curve so here goes!

First attempt at silhouette:

Second attempt at silhouette:
![]() Sony A58, Tamron 16-300mm @ 130mm. ISO 100, 1/500s @ f10. Straight from camera apart from resizing. I suspect it will fail the lack of detail test - but I like it anyway. Edited by Phil Wood - 14 May 2018 at 10:05 |

@Phil Wood: #1 is a clear pass and a much more interesting subject IMHO. Cheers... Brian

Thanks Brian, I wasn't so sure about the composition/framing of the first one (I was remembering the 'perfectly executed' bit). I agree that it's a great subject, so I went back for another shot. Sony A58, Tamron 16-300mm @ 60mm. ISO 100, 1/2500s @ f10. Straight from camera apart from resizing. And so on to fill-in flash - should be interesting, I have no idea what to go for as yet (and only the on-camera flash with me on my holiday). Phil Edited by Phil Wood - 14 May 2018 at 10:05 |

I didn't see in the rules that these had to be done in order.
I was looking for a solution for NEW Basic Assignment #2: Leading lines but found this instead. ![]() walking with purpose A77 + Tamron AF 70-200mm 1:2.8 Macro A001 ISO 50 f/3.2 1/6400sec 85mm Edited by LAbernethy - 05 January 2019 at 01:27 |

@Harm vb: We generally accept one image at a time, but you had rightly considered that the first might not be a pass.
The assignment,
Back-light does not add impact to the garlic. However with the brooding sky behind him, the rooster, whether a lightening rod or weather vane, clearly has something to look forward to. That's a pass. Cheers... Brian |
