@jvsanchez: Vincent, the consensus among the assignment referees is that you have another go at this one. There were two main points of criticism, 1) the strong point-source lighting from behind and reflection on the ball results in a very wide distribution of lightness across the red channel and diminishes the impact of the primary color, and 2) the brown background (which has a significant red component itself) offers little contrast with the red ball. Looking forward to your next entry. Cheers... Brian

Mr_Canuck, I remembered the shot (that's because I like it
![]() Since it's already posted in October 2009, when this new assignment wasn't even existing I think it violates the rule that it needs to be taken specifically for the assignment. So pls. try again. |

yamaha83, one of the objectives of using primary colors is to produce a fresh and crisp image. So the red berries are OK but the slight overexposure, small dof, undefined dark background at the right bottom and dark berries at the top spoil this general idea and we would like you to try again.

Ok - i went out today for this assignment because i saw the local town hall flying the UK flag (You dont see that many flags flying in England unless the world cup is on) - so thats my first attempt (Cant get much more primary)
And just in case thats too many colours - the town hall also had some flowers out front - and pic two is a RED one ![]() ![]() ![]() Edit = These are both the Sig70~300 - No2 is with the macro switch in at 300 (Hand held)- im quite impressed - not used that before... I think with the second it's impossible to fail, I immediately went for my sunglasses when the post opened
![]() The first is nice as well but there the attraction from the shot doesn't come from the colours but from the great shape you caught the flag in. all the colours are a bit dark and not so saturated in there. So off to your next assignment based on #2 Btw, I have a 70-300 Tamron with a similar 1:2 macro switch. It comes in mighty handy when you want to travel light, but still want to be able to catch flowers, creepy crawley's and other small wildlife. |
