Welcome Sam ! Your entrance was very similar to mine (after lurking for a while), and most of my gear is from the second hand market too
![]() Looking forward to your work, and I hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. |

Welcome from me aswell Sam. What sort of boat? (I hope you are going to say a Fisher 37, my absolute favourite in a lifetime of sailing ![]() Of course there are a squillian YouTubes tutorials and a whole library of books to choose from but I'd suggest you have a look at the YouTube channel, "Photography Online". It started in Jan 20 and publishes an hour programme every month, entirely free, no catch. And I have no connection with them other than an impressed viewer. I'd start at Jan 20 and work through last year, there is a host of good advice covering all sorts of photography genres. It is as good as any TV programme and is from a Photography training school on the Isle of Skye. Looking forward to seeing your sailing photos in due course. Brian |

Not a Fisher, but my parents had a Colvic 33 which is vaguely similar.
Thanks for the link to photography online, they're brilliant! I quite like being taught in a Scottish accent. |

Hi Rudolf, and welcome to Dyxum.
We're living though strange and challenging times, but I must say the ability to remain connected to the Dyxum membership and to see the world via this wonderful on-line community is a real blessing while freedom to travel and to get out and about with cameras is restricted. Looking forward to seeing your posts. Joe |

Thank you! I definitely find time to collect and organize those pictures from Bus spotting times. During my work at capital city (Bratislava), I had absolutely no time to took some pictures. Especially when I was working. Long shifts.
Especially during my high school and university times (aka 2009-2014), it was quite different story. Well, Bus spotting is quite "time eating" hobby just like wildlife photography is. Great times for pictures like this one. I saw that Dyxum Photo Contest from 2020 is still open. So, if I can i put there some photos from the fields. Last year, during lockdowns and summer time, I spent more time in the fields. So I had oportunity to photograph summer and corn harvesting time as well. |

Welcome to the Dyxum Rudolf
The office I used to work in was next to a large town bus station and we would often see 'strange looking photographer' standing around taking photos of the less common buses. And in a previous job to that we had one fella who was young (and popular with the ladies), had a fast sports car ... and his hobby was some form of train spotting. He actually rode on the trains he was after (not sure what branch of train-spotting that is). People often poke fun at these 'sports'. But then, I've followed and photographed trams in Lisbon (back in my film days last century). So to me it was just a novel and colorful different type of bus. Also met a small group of Dyxum members at a working railway museum a good few years ago. It was a fun day out. |

Welcome to Dyxum, Txentxo (well, there is a thread about the Dyxum names which we use!).
Hopefully you do not hesitate to post some images from your beautiful home region. Some time ago I saw a video with an aerial view of the coastline and I was stunned! All the best! |

Embarrassed to say I didn't realise there was a say hello thread - I've never really been down to the bottom bunch of forums before. Late to the party. Hi all. Been signed up since 2009 - lens and gear reviews (total strength of the site) has been my main interaction particularly with the Minolta-Sony transition. The advice on all of that is brilliant. Never really needed to ask any questions because by the time I get there it has already been asked and answered!
Based in Australia in Queensland. Started the photography journey with film as a teenager in the mid 90's (was gifted a Minolta 500si super with 24-85mm 3.5-4.5 to start off with) - the camera died so I moved to an 800si which I still have and occasionally use. Acquired some more Minolta lenses over time but didn't go digital until the Sony a100 was released. Moved through the gears with a700, a900, a99 and now a99II. Still have the a900 and a99. Thoroughly enjoying checking out all your great pictures - loving the stuff I don't often see or do - macro (insects and plants), IR and the night sky stacking. Keep up the great work! |
