Been on hiatus from photography for a good few years for all sorts of reasons but am finding my interest rekindled as I have a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Chile and the Atacama coming up, so I figure if ever there was a time to join the forums then it's now.

Brief history of my photographic life... started with a Minolta X300, was on that for many years before switching to both autofocus and digital in one fell swoop with a Dynax 7D; been rocking a Sony a77ii for a few years but it has had criminally little use so far. No intentions of ever moving to E mount unless something critical breaks.

Hi!

Welcome aboard and, yes, I have found this forum to be helpful, polite and thorough. Enjoy your trip and share some images when you return.

Hello All-

I found this site while searching for information on the Maxxum 9 / Alpha 9 / Dynax 9

There was one for sale locally with the 50/1.4 and the Promaster 28-200 aspherical LD zoom lens

I found the listing for the camera while doing random searches for equipment locally

I did what I could to learn about the camera - and found a good deal of discussion on it here - and bought the kit

I’ve been lurking as a guest for a few weeks or more, and as I spend time with the camera I’m sure I’ll be generating questions and forum content

Thanks for having me in the group

Thanks Phil

I’m almost done with the first roll through the α9, Ilford Delta 3200

I like grain, and this camera allows me to run in daylight with this film

We shall see how it goes, I’m thinking it will look good

In the hands this camera is amazing, coming from decades of Canon FTb/F1/T90/Eos1/etc as well as other (Pentax and Fuji mostly) roll film medium format equipment

The α9 is unique

I have more exploration with it to go, with interest in running the 5400hs flash in the system remote mode at local music performance venues

Many things to learn about this camera

Welcome - a great group of folks here particularly with knowledge about the 9, not my expertise but others know that camera well. And, as you are probably well aware the 50mm 1.4 is a highly regarded prime. I hope there is information here that well help along with the knowledgeable equipment folks.
