swede: i like your composition, and it by the rules:) thanks for participating.
btw, you got sone uneven horizon problem too, but not very disracting. and putting the boat to horizontal 2/3 could make it more 'thirds rule compliant', but that does not necessarily mean better. i'm looking forward to see all of you in the second assignment! |

shot on film in dublin this weekend
rather dodgy scan by my local processer i've cropped some off the top and sides ( too keep aspect ratio) as shooting from the side to avoid parking bollards meant the top of the wall was at a diagonal with trees in the background. she is placed 1/3 in and the bottom of the wall is at 1/3 too. 700si with 35-70/4 at 35mm ![]() |

Welcome to the land where trees are rare in favour of cereal :) How to practice rule of thirds in such a land? Ha! This is my try (well, I was practising use of DOF more, but I kept in mind also that I want a shot for this assignment):
BTW, the photo was midnight-sepia-ed, but I hope that it is OK. |

I'm noise-blind. And noise-about-noise-deaf too ... | BTW, Dyxum Weekly Exhibitions don't grow on trees ...

Okay, here's my attempt from today (and my first ever photo on Dyxum too, here's hoping it works!)
I was thinking that the frame is split in 3rds horizontally, and there is also a 3rds aspect vertically too (and introducing my daughter in the centre!) ![]() Though now that I look at it again, it's only just annoyed me that the two edges either side aren't even :| I should have been more centred in the archway myself (I was mostly trying to make sure my daughter didn't escape!) Anyway, let me know if this is passable! Thanks! Whoops, possibly too big? Sorry Edited by Clover - 26 June 2007 at 17:04 |
