Excellent- that is very good. The combination of the fungus, diffuse background and sharp-focused toad is wonderful!

Darosa - I enjoyed all these recent posts with the Bausch & Lomb lens.

Digiton - #1 and #3 work really well. Beautiful light! The little frog looks so grumpy!

Thanks Ton! I knew it was something with 'ear'.

Usemygoodeye - I agree with Digiton about the last one. Well worth a revisit for some detail shots with a macro...

Digiton - another good one! 3 berries vs 3 mushrooms - well spotted!

that first shot would be really gorgeous if it were not for the bokeh. i shuld have taken the time to get the best out of that shot, but my mind was not on photography really. The second shot is a really impressive specimen. Not only did I find over 30 shrooms, some were fatter than a beer can. You dont find them that big often. keeping my fingers crossed that they grow here again this spring. i have found them here several times, but it is not every year. these photos were taken may 17 2011. 2012 there were none. 2013 I found about ten.

After listening to the kids tell me how gross these look and how they dont like any mushrooms at all, I convinced them to taste the morels. How bitter sweet. Now I have to share!

You can see that some of these have been dined on by slugs. I have to remond myself to look for these mushrooms every couple days during the season.

Lovely work there macronut... And with the bonus of it being tasty :)

I do like the top photo with the excellent lighting the most, but I take your point about the bokeh.

Posted By: macronut
Date Posted: 26 March 2014 at 17:32
Thank you. It is my favorite also, despite the nervous bokeh. I may yet decide to print and frame it. My printer really does a great job and i got a great deal photo paper. Thats been my thing lately. I dont remember, but thinking back to this date I am guessing these were taken with my 50mm 2.8 macro rs.

there really is nothing to compare the taste of these mushrooms to. if only they were available in stores year round. the guy that figures out how to grow them is going to be a rich man.

Good one, Neil. It has a real 'dark enchanted forest' feel. Being a fusspot, I'd really prefer it if the right was cropped off a little to make it a bit more symmetrical

Love that last one, Myst. Nice view! I've never thought of using a TC with a fisheye. I'll have to give that a try....

Thanks :)
I really love using the fisheye with the TC, more magnification, huge field of view and just enough distortion that it's not distracting.

Thanks Aavo, that was an old shot from 2012 but PP'd for the first time yesterday.

After Oktoberfest I chilled without taking shots for almost two weeks, but yesterday went out to shoot a few fungi that are showing up in the neighborhood.
