These were taken when I was hiking with my friends. I took some quick snapshots on the top of the hill above our home town and transfered some of the photos to my phone mainly to post them on social network (somebody convinced me to start using FB again after 3 years of inactivity ) I played with the Snapseed app a bit before posting them online so I hope that PP isn't ovecooked and borders aren't to distracting.

This one is baby Maple leaves growing on the edge of a bluff in a very remote area. 50mm Minolta Macro RS used. Handheld, as could not get my tripod in place there. Leaves are backlit here and really this colorful.

This is a Dogwood in my yard, again, backlit. Shot with 100mm Macro D.

Neil, many thanks for this great compliment. I hadn't considered printing yet and must confess that printing is almost out of my system these digital days, but you triggered an interesting thought. Thanks for that. (We only make our calender with 12 prints each year). Initially I was not too happy with the shot, but adding the white frame made it much better for me.

Hi Fred, thanks for the kind words - it's appreciated.
If you do have it printed, try and find someone that does 'proper' printing and not digital (ie straight from the negative onto paper); we had a competition evening at the club here recently and I was genuinely surprised at the difference between a digital print (ie 'inkjet' or similar) and a true silver halide print. There was greater depth and tonal effect from the silver print and I think it's almost that the print sits 'in' the paper rather than largely on the surface: difficult to describe but once you've seen it the difference really jumps out at you.
Great shot (again!) and best regards,
Neil.

@pdave - what a lovely shot, partly made by the colours but more so by those wonderful, sinuous, roots we can see covering the ground; I wonder if there isn't a shot in this image as well through a careful crop to make more out of these by taking the upper part of the image down to the lowest tree top??
Whatever, it's a great location (especially so at that time of year) and one well worth going back to as the seasons change I suspect.
Thanks for sharing and best regards, Neil.

3. Spectacular 'Wheel of Fire' tree in my local park, attracts lots of birds and insects when in Autumn flower. Native to Queensland and northern New South Wales rainforests but a popular planting in parks and gardens elsewhere. https://flic.kr/p/23KZdny"> https://flic.kr/p/23KZdny - 'Wheel of Fire' Autumn flowering tree by https://www.flickr.com/photos/jozioau/ - Joe Lewit , on Flickr
