@Kilkry, sounds all too familiar ! It's a balancing act, if what you really want to do is take pictures and all the dog wants to do is to play games with you .

New dog, new lens!

Meet Dara he`s a six month old Parson Russell terrier. He enjoys running through buttercups chasing bees and birds.

I picked up a very cheap copy of the Minolta 200mm 2.8 APO as it has a sticky aperture ( not blades the aperture pin sticks randomly) and some peripheral fungus but it`s good dog lens though I can only get it to shoot reliably at 2.8/3.2 at present.

Buttercup chase.

@ Macca - that is a cracking shot you have captured the fun and exuberance of a dog perfectly.

A couple more of my girl Sam - bloody hard to get a shot of her without that ball in her mouth

Here is our Misty girl (Gordon Setter). Unfortunately we had to put her to rest two weeks ago at the age of 14 due to a heart tumor. But she had a good life and enriched our lives for so many years.

May she be with all our other girls.

So sorry to hear of your loss, Steve. I've been through it too many times and it's so very difficult. I know she had a happy life.

This was a shock to say the least. Lost my boy Morgen on Oct 31. He seemed in fine health, being treated for a relatively minor issue and just had his belly ultrasounded recently, nothing of significance found. But apparently a spleen tumor was missed. He was fine Monday, had to let him go Tuesday, as he was bleeding out. :( He was 8 years old, my precious friend and protector. I miss him more than words can say.

He is the big dog in the last photo, and his little buddy, Gabriel, is lost without him. It's so sad. :(

Again sad news on this page. Sorry to hear that Dena. Always hard to lose a good and loyal friend. The last one is touching. 1 and 2 are great portraits to keep the memories alive. All the best.

Hope those who have lost their lovely friends and companions have as many good times and memories as we do with our little guy. I love watching him sprint around the beach, even on a Baltic day like today.
