I wanted to try it, and the result was so good that I had to share it :-) The next dandelion seed was my own idea, but of course inspired by other black reflection photos. Picolay is a program that also does stacking and interestingly can generate stereo images. It does this by generating a depth map from all the stacked images https://flic.kr/p/2j24SJZ">  Here, yellow is closer to the camera, blue furthest, and green indicates locations between the extremes. The Photoshop stack of this image is https://flic.kr/p/2iYTHfU">  (Sony A7 III / 10+26mm extension tube / Sony Zeiss 24-70 F4; I used Imaging Remote to tether the camera to a laptop and the b8stack add-on to automate the step focus and taking process.) That's a good focus stack! For the stereograms, I used to be able to 'get' them but I'm struggling here. Thanks, Mikey. I can't do them without a viewing aid, and I use something called OWL, which is promoted by Brian May's London Stereoscopic Company. Impressive Howard. The lens seems to give a good addition to what you 'macroed' before. What's your opinion on the lens (so far)? I particularly like the delicate last one, but the rainy leaves are fine too. -------------  Be yourself; everyone else is already taken

Thanks! I’ll try to do a proper lens review in due course, but my initial impressions are very positive. Hitherto I have used standard lenses on extension tubes or an adapted Tamron SP 90mm Macro from the Minolta MD era. So to have AF, modern lens quality and build, and integration with the FE body is quite a leap forward for me. The Sigma lens is very good value - about half the price of the Sony 90mm Macro and about the same price as the Sony 50mm. Reviews suggest the shorter Sony lens has some drawbacks so this seemed the right direction to go in.
