This is a waiting room/lobby of newly restored historic railway station in Białystok, PL. This station was built in XIX century to serve Warsaw - St. Petersburg rail connection. It was destroyed during WWII and restored a few times after that. Then, after last restoring a several years ago, they found original plans and old pictures showing this building in original shape. So some decision makers decided to restore it this time to first original look.
So here it is (taken last night):

This is obviously inside. And, off course, they did not have electric clock, all electronic displays and stuff and modern chairs at that time. I am not sure about electricity. They are still working outside so I have to wait a few more weeks to complete all pictures.

Two pictures of Warrington Central Station. The first is of the original frontage, but the entrance was inconveniently situated from the main road so a second entrance was created as seen in the second picture.

North Llanrwst station was opened on 17 June 1863, the only passing place on the single track Conwy Valley line. The station buildings are grade 2 listed but disused, the station is unstaffed and you buy your ticket from the conductor after boarding the train.

Llandudno, a short branch off the main line ends at this seaside resort.

Decades ago, the station would have been very busy on summer Saturdays as long trains took holidaymakers to and from their week stays at boarding houses, which provided acommodation and meals. The tracks on one side have since been filled in, giving the station a lopsided appearance..

The ticket barriers remain as a decorative feature. The logo superimposes the letters LM&S for London Midland and Scottish, the company that ran operaations here until it was nationalised in 1948. The yellow sign is a warning to beware of snow and ice!

Close up of the logo

The other end, signal boxes and semaphore signalling are fast disappearing on the modern railway.

Very nice Alan, with the ticket barrier, the LM&S sign and the signal bridge&box it almost looks to be stuck in the 1950's with only a few modern anomalies like the electronic sign and the ice warning decal. Even the dual coloured carriages don't look out of place. Great place also for some heritage steam runs I would think.

Thetford, Norfolk, England.

The original station building to the left was built in 1845 by the Norwich & Brandon Railway, parked cars obstructed the view.

The station was extended by the Great Eastern Railway who built this separate booking office. The inscription cut into the brickwork reads "Thetford Station 1889".

The disused signal box.

Thank you Alan!

Very nice set of photos of a historic rail station complex! Nice to see that these beautiful and interesting old building are still standing. Sadly, stations like that here in the USA are often demolished when they outlive their usefulness. The automobile killed rail passenger service in most places in North America Also those dispatch switching towers are a thing of the past. This now usually takes place in a central location where it is probably mostly automated and controlled by computer programs. Thanks for sharing.

Regards,

Kelly

Thanks Kelly, most of our network is signalled from a few locations now also. I miss the old system where you could watch trains accompaanied by sounds from the semaphore signalling, levers being pulled to operaae signals and points, and the bell codes being transmitted to the next box along.

Chester station, designed by the architect Francis Thompson, and constructed by Thomas Brassey, opened on 1st August 1848.

Opened in August 1836, Liverpool Lime Street is the oldest still-operating grand terminus mainline station in the world. There is a seperate underground level for the Merseyrail third rail electric network.

Built in 1848, Shrewsbury station is designated a grade II listed building. It is one of the key network hubs of Transport for Wales, serving lines from Birmingham to the mid Wales coast, the Marches line along the England/Wales border and the very rural Central Wales Line.

The platforms are numbered 3 to 7 from left to right. Platform 3, where I'm standing, is used infrequently as it's separated from the others by a subway. The bridge once also connected the platforms but is now used only as a pedestrian passageway.

So what happened to platforms 1 and 2? They were here, behind me, long since disused and overgrown.

Bench bearing the insignia of the Great Western Railway, which was nationalised in 1948.

A Transport for Wales service calls at platform 4. The signal box at the north end of the station is still operational. Shrewsbury retains some delightful old semaphore signals along with more modern colour light signals.

At the south end is now the world's largest manually operated signal box, 89 of its original 180 levers are still in use.

A pair of unique centre pivoted lower quadrant signals.

Lift from platform 3

On platform 3 is a metal plaque listing (with their respective stations of employment) 42 employees of the London and North Western and Great Western Joint Railways who died serving in the armed forces in 'the Great War', with figures of a soldier and sailor and representations of a cannon and steamship. Arwel Hughes composed the Welsh hymn "Tydi a roddaist" in 20 minutes during a wait between train connections in 1938. A commemmorative plaque is situated below the war memorial.

Opposite platform 7 is a high concrete wall that divides the rest of the station from what could be considered to be platform 8. This platform does not see any use and was built for transporting prisoners from HM Prison Shrewsbury. It is believed that this platform was only used a few times each year between 1868 up until just before the First World War.

Thank you :)
I was inspired by an exhibition at the Liberty Science Center where I took a picture of this waiting room in https://imagizer.imageshack.com/img922/1512/5lxv0K.jpg - miniature
And for the first time in a real interior, I took a photo from this site.

What a fabulous station, could be an art gallery, and well photographed. It looks very quiet, empty at first glance before I spotted the man with bag on the left and the horizontal figure on the right.

Very nice, Mariusz! A Grand old American railroad terminal in the grand old style of years gone buy! Some have been removed, others repurposed. TFS!

Thanks for comments:)

Filmmakers were also interested in this terminal. A few titles where the terminal appears:
Julia and Julia
Once Upon a Time in America
Sturdust Memories
Funny Girl
Voices

Additionally, during this internet search I found a 1954 film with Marlon Brando - On the Waterfront. The film was shot entirely in Hoboken. I must watch!

Yes, that's right. Very intresting. But to see it, you have to go through a terribly complicated https://www.nytransitmuseum.org/oldcityhall/ - procedure . And after all this, the ticket hunt may not go well.

Białystok Railway Station. Still under construction. Now they're doing underpass and extending a roof over the tracks. More about history of this station in my post on a first page of this thread.

This is fantastic. The surroundings have detail, and the people meld into the station (not sure about standing on the tracks though! LOL). I admit I clicked through to see "what lens has that microcontrast" and of course it was the reliable 16-80 (thumbsup)

Thanks. Yes still love my "old" 16-80, which is now on my A77ii. Reliable as the day is long.
