You've still got your mojo Brandy .....Dr Evil Covid and the hot magma haven't cramped your style. Enjoyed your wattle bird catch and the others as well.
Dopol - your red kites and griffin's are mint.....then the owl flying in WOW...in that sequence as a photo it's 0 for me just off the water/ice but then as an action shot the catches are fantastic too.
Bald Eagles are terrific as well PBC....

@MinoltaMad thanks, as for COVID it was all I could do to lift the camera. As my mother frequently told me old age is not for the faint hearted!! And yes Domien, I'd missed these, WOW indeed, very hard to choose but I think #1 for me. Robert, don't know if it's my monitor and whether others see this but sometimes your skies/background appear quite noisy and spoil what would be otherwise great shots??[viewing on a 32" BenQ 4K}

Peter: The Birds in Flight pictures are pretty much SOOC. I usually lightly use Curves, Saturation and the Unsharp Mask in Paintshop Pro. On the stationary birds sitting on utility poles in the Birds forum, I attempted to clone out power lines and cables. ISO is generally 1000 or lower. Thanks for your comments. I am sure your eye for detail is sharper than mine. All comments welcome.

Thanks Michele and Charles. Robert, there's so many good noise reduction/sharpening products out there that virtually a one click does the lot. I'm thinking DxO Photolab 6, ON1RAW, Topaz Photo AI which are the ones I've trialed. As to the eyes I very much doubt it!!

That is still very nice I'd say. I find most of this species being colourful a bit like kingfishers. You have done well to catch one in flight, I found it near impossible because they are so quick and unpredictable.
The only flight shots I managed were ones very very far away with a massive crop, cropped to 1.5MP from a 33MP file

And yes Harm, this was part of our "middle of the Netherlands" mini meet.

Sounds like GAS, I know what you mean, I've been there too Pieter (but haven't really tried my A7IV yet on it's tracking capabilities)

Fabulous shot, Domien, perfectly timed and captured. Impressed that the action has been frozen at this shutter speed. Brings back fond memories of @ijsvogel's posts of these extraordinary birds.

Thanks, Joe, it was on the border of unsharp. Next time it definitely will be 1/2500s
Heikki: Yes It was a series ending with the bird surfacing and flying away. (between this shot and the dive were 4 more shots) As I said above, the shutter speed just wasn't high enough. The other shots were only soso.

Thanks :)
I shot at The Palisade. These are high cliffs above the Hudson River. The height reaches 150m. Birds look for opportunities to glide there. Sometimes they are very low and the viewpoint is at the top of the cliff. On that day I saw only three species of birds of prey, but during the migration period you can see up to twenty species there.
