The downsising algorithm that the website uses isn't the best, to get exactly what you see as your original make sure it's 1024 pix horizontal maximum or (2nd best) let Flickr do the downsizing to 1024 pix. Both will look better than linking a larger file and let the website software handle the downsizing.

And I agree with Michel, great shot and plenty detailed for my eyes.

Sure Sashi Have a ton of unposted like all of us, but I should post more of them
I did a trip to Page, Az. on a whim, mostly prompted by Neil (Owen10)'s Epic, Utah Vacation Journal
I have used it as my landscape tutorial ever since. Thank you, Neil

Page is "Gateway to the National Parks". In the Page area sometimes you're in Southern Utah, sometimes in Northern Arizona and you wouldn't know which at the time. 🤷‍♂️
Thank you Sashi for getting me moving. Everywhere I turned there was something crazy fantastic to photograph
I'm going to post an "open views" thread and start putting the photos in

California Condors hanging out with the folks on Navajo Bridge....Navajo Reservation

BTW, I tried to answer earlier, but as you may have seen I have been denied access for a time

Thanks both! I was pretty lucky with the light that morning - it was on a walk with my wife and 3 year old son. I knew it was a good location, but didn't expect the atmosphere created by the light, nor the heron!

What a gorgeous shot, Andy! The light rays add a wonderful ambience to it and the stork in the center draws the eye into the shot very well. The waves of the flowing water are another complementary piece of the pic.
The only nit is that I might have personally eased up on the saturation a bit.

This view of the Westshore Wildlife Refuge was taken after sunset. I'm looking to the west and the sun has gone behind the Kaweka range.

This wildlife refuge is in Napier, and forms part of the Ahuriri estuary. It's home to many common and also rare, NZ birds.
I had posted an earlier version in my Photo150 challenge, but have since reworked it in Capture One.

it's not only haze, it's wind and waves as well.

Well, we're in the midst of a lengthy tropical storm (high winds, rain) in Tāmaki-Makarau (Auckland), so figuring Te Henga wouldn't be crowded with visitors I headed out there for some more seascape photography.

I opted to wear Sealskin ™ waterproof socks, hiking boots and a 3-layer raincoat. With the winds I opted not to bring tripod, and just hiked to O'Neill Bay with the a7Riii and Voigtländer 110mm macro. I figured this had two advantages. I wouldn't have to perch at the edge of the rocks and be potentially swept into the pounding ocean and drowned. And it's off, tapered lens-hood made it very unlikely I'd get any sea-spray or rain droplets on the front lens. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as extreme as I'd hoped when I reached the Bay so the shots had less drama than I was after.

The first thing I tried was some intentional-camera-movement during the shots. Basically slowing the shutter down and following the crest of the waves.

#1 Wave version 1

#2 Wave version 2 (slower shutter speed)

This viewpoint captured the wind, blowing back spray off the tops of the waves. I tried to set this up using a leading line through the rocks and down the waves.

#3 Surf

#4 Black and White Surf

They don't quite have the impact I was after, but I'm now more confident I can take photos in more challenging weather.

Yes Wave Version 1 is "in between", it looks blurry but not Artistic, like it was not intentional. The shutter speed in Wave Version 2 is long enough that it works as Impressionism, and looks intentional. Version 2 is excellent!

Longer shutter speeds lead to fewer keepers, but the ones that are keepers are striking.

I asked about Viewfinder blackout with the a9 because tracking is impossible with a blank viewfinder like with long exposures, so it would make this technique produce more keepers. I can fire off 50+ of these and not get a keeper

3 Surf is the right idea, maybe more telephoto might give it more Wow factor.

#4 Black and White Surf is good, but my eye sees wave spray in the upper right, and I want to see more of it LOL.
