Yes, I understand.

With all the rain this year in Auckland, the odd devastating cyclone and getting hit by a car when cycling to work, this year hasn't been good for photography.

On the other hand, I do have a bit more time to work through old photos.

Here's a pic of a Red Crown Crane I took at the Zhalong Reserve near Qiqihar in Heilong-JIang province in 2009.

#2023 Version

a100 and Tamron 90/2.8mm, at 1ISO100, 1/1000s and f4.5

For comparison the
#2009 Version

I'd only owned the a100 a few months when the opportunity at Zhalong came about, so my photography and Raw processing skills were not that advanced. Also, we only had a narrow window of time to take pictures. I was there as an official visit as part of a foreign delegation so there wasn't much time for planning or composition.

In 2009 I was using Silkypix, I overstaturated the shot, and the feather details on the dorsal side of the wings were lost, and I cropped it to a 4x5 image.

In 2023 I'm using Capture One 2023, the colours look more natural, the feather details have been recovered. I've also used Pixelmator Pro's 'super resolution' AI function. So a 10MP shot in 2009 is now a 90MP shot in 2023. I just let Pixelmator Pro do its default enlargement. It really is an impressive enlargement.

These are captive birds that are kept by a fisherman and trained to dive and catch fish for him. They can't swallow the fish due to a metal ring aound their neck when they're sent off to dive.

Magnificent Kingfisher photo Domien.
Rich colour and detail, razor sharp focus on the subject set against a clean OOF background. Doesn't get much better than this.

Great shots of kingfisher :)
Were these photos denoised somehow? How?

Thank you
The first one was denoised with Lr Enhance (was ISO5000)
The second one was denoised with Topaz Photo AI (was ISO5000)
The Lr Enhance noise reduction is smoother,
the Topaz noise reduction is sharper, and contains more detail, but remains a little noisy.
That's probably because denoising/sharpening is concentrated on subject
