This is both a happy scene and a not so happy scene. It is a happy scene as the boy gets initiated, his father is allowed into the temple, but his sister and mother have to observe from the outside. Actually the house where I was born (Stichtstraat 1, Amsterdam) The house is bigger now, the more "blueish grey" part closest to the camera was added later. A Roman mosaic emerging from the soil that had hidden it for 1600 years. The day after I took this it was covered in sand and reburied. Two years later it was comletely uncovered for a few days - it is back underground again now. Next photo will show something from Italy this century. |
