Took this one very early yesterday morning. Another Great Heron I know, but I find them very beautiful and quite a challenge to get a good photo out of.

That, to my mind, is one of your best.

Got a http://www.dyxum.com/lenses/detail.asp?IDLens=269 - new toy , so it's time to start posting some bird pictures. A fresh thread that's not already full of frighteningly good pictures might be a good place to start :)

(Splendid?) Blue Wren. OOF tail is a pity, I rarely find these in sunlight.

An Eagle Owl. Captive, of course, but I like that this shot hide the rings and straps (jesses) on its legs. Taken with a Sigma 70-300 DG APO @ 150mm

Some very nice shots this time around. These are not as good as most here but these Herron's are very tough to shoot around here since it's almost impossible to get close to them at the marsh where i walk on the weekend mornings. Shot with Tamron 200-500mm

@ alve:

your first shot of the heron is an absolute masterpiece. Thanks for sharing that beautiful shot.

I had an incident with a small bird today. It seemed to have fallen out of the nest. But as i learned today, it's not unusual, that young birds are outside the nest, even if they can't fly.

One more.

A Common Kestrell chick who crashed a couple of days after leaving the nest, totally exhausted and unable to take care of itself..
I took the rare opportunity to get very close to this beautiful bird of pray and shot a series of portraits before catching the bird and pass him over to the authorities...I sure hope he'll get along good after beeing fead up. Shot this very morning at my farm.

@ Alve and napo. Thanks a lot guys!

@ Turerkan. Thanks a lot and a big.. ;o)

@ Brettania, a special thank you to you! I believe your heart is bleeding just as much as mine for these beautiful 'Lords of the Sky'.

I've got some more pictures of the little fellow that are waiting for PP, will post here later on.

I'm so glad to tell you that the little falcon is doing allright. I got an e-mail from the rescue team this morning and they were happy to tell me that he is eating with an apetite, gaining weight and is feeling generally good. They will call me when it's time to set the bird free so I can take some pictures of the release.

That shot actually picked up a POTW at Steve Parish's http://www.photographaustralia.com.au/ - Photograph Australia website this week too, so I was pretty happy with that.
