There are so many excellent phots here, what a delight to look at them.
I sorely miss contributions from South Africa, a country which harbours a number of world class photographers who produce stunningly beautiful pictures. I cannot make up for that, but here is a picture of the Mickey Mouse plant or Micky Mouse bush, taken in South Africa. I believe the plant is also found in Australia. I usually go to one of the National Parks, where one is not allowed out of the car, so taking macro pictures (which is in my blood) is usually impossible. Will be there in less than a month from now and hopefully will be able to photograph more flowers.

Actually, the flower in the background right was not very nice in appearance and I preferred to put the attention on what I thought to be a very nice specimen. I see your point though and thanks for the feedback. This is all still new to me...only since end of June this year. BUT, I am really taken with the new hobby. Comments and suggestions are quite welcome on my side of the court. Thanks Brettania.

Hi FineArt: Nice picture, even if the colors are not what you intended.
If you have PhotoShop and the file is in AdobeRGB and you want to convert it to Web (sRGB) what you can try is the command Image/Mode/Convert to Profile.......... and then convert it to sRGB. I usually use the "perceptual" intent (especially with pictures with saturated colors)and check "Use Black Point Compensation". Hope this helps. If this doesn't work you can always try other methods as well (eg. relative colorometric) and see if that's better.

I went out last week to shoot some fungus (will post some later) and almost trampled this small beauty. Finally had an excellent oppotunity to test my new KM 100/2.8 at full 1:1. I manually set the focus to 1:1 and kept adjusting the tripod legs until it was in focus. Came out quite nice I think. 1/10th at f8.

Im finding a100 raw coverted to jpg works much better than tiffs from scans. I think its the processing in the converter sharpens better after the downrez.

There's some nice work here by those still in the "Newbie" category, although I have moved some that were posted in the wrong area.

Man, there is some good stuff here.
hieuhef,
The colors on those cut flowers lying on the tile is amazing. In fact it looks life-like to the point I think its medium format digital or a scan. What camera is that?
That rose Ronnie, is also great.
I have to go back to my first shoot with A100 to get one that can stand with the others. This flower is vying for attention.

fineart, you flatter me
and to think it was shot with the 'lowly' a100! my teacher told me the other day that whenever he sees pictures of flowers, he thinks it's product placement for seed manufacturers and the like. i have to disagree, because looking at these images, the colors, the velvety textures, i see much more than a bag of seeds!
<3 the flower shots, people!
