Hello all,

I would like to show my latest D.I.Y project to you, I am a carpenter/interior builder with a CNC machine that I can use for lots of things
We got some new tools and they were all packed in hard foamplastic, and I tought lets make something nice from it!

Have a look:

This is the CNC machine, and it's is made in the USA

Work in progress

Can you see what it's going to be?!

Ready

All 'layers' ready to glue on top of each other

After some hours of work, the results

This picture is taken with my old Sony DSC-W50 cam

Details

Well as you can see it worked out quite well, I wanted a case as small as possible with as much as possible inside!
The most of the time was spent drawing the shapes , I simply used pen and paper and my 'carpenter eye' to draw lines around all my 'gear'.

After that I scanned it and with Adobe illustrator I used the 'pen tool' to made smooth lines from it, and created a file that my CNC machine could use.
By the way, that flash meter is not going to be in that space , there will be a box to hold 32 Sanyo Eneloop AA batterys for the four flashes!

What do you think of it?

PS:
If you would like to make something similair to this, I can send you the Adobe Illustrator files if you'd like.

That is really nice!! Well done.

My husband used to run a CNC mill for a local boatworks. He used to come home with some interesting side projects, too.

Nice and well done!

Though you do not need a CNC machine as a prerequisite to build such a photocase

Excellent project! I think the main challenge for me with such a project would be deciding which lens would normally go on the camera. Then, am I going out with primes, zooms, or adapted lenses? or some combination?

With so much raw material at hand plus the ease with which you can make different iterations, you could make different inserts for different purposes, or even half-inserts that could be mixed and matched. Anyway, thanks for sharing!

Thank you !

@ Micholand, yes it's possible to do this with a sharp 'stanley' knife but I don't think you get it just as precise as a CNC can do it

CNC would be the way to go if you had a choice.
What you need now is a thin sheet of a different color to go on top. Might not be neccesary here but with tool box drawers laid out in foam like that it makes it easier to see if anything's missing. And it looks really cool with the right complementary colors.

That meter is getting a place inside the lid (?) of this case (correct english?)
It's a very small suitcase but with lots and lots of zippers and Storage spaces! (and for only 18 euro's at a local chinese shop)
