Just to recap what this thread is about: there are only three simple rules that must be fulfilled to post a photo in here:

  • The photo you post must be selected from your gallery in a random way (or pseudo-random - if there are some computing purists around ). Use your calculator, or computer to generate some pseudo-random number. Or use dice or results of your national lottery, or whatever ...

  • The first shot selected must be posted, i.e. no cheating is allowed because e.g. "that first photos was so awful"

  • No more than one photo per day is allowed.


Of course all are encouraged to comment others work and discuss various aspects of posted photos.

this was a test shot to compare the bokeh between the Sigma 50mm f1.4 HSM and Sony's 50mm f1.4

(this was the Sigma's which was a lot more "creamy" than the Sony's)

The past and the present


The Bounty is actually a reconstruction built in 1961 by MGM studios, for the movie of the same name, from the original plans. She is about 1/3 larger to accommodate shooting the film, and built at a cost of 750000.     After the movie, she was moved the St. Petersburg Fl, where she stayed for many years, and where I grew up and had been aboard many times. Now she resides in San Juan harbor Puerto Rico, where my wife and I stopped during a cruise aboard the Carnival Liberty (in the back round) and took this picture.
