Hi Brettania,

The building was part of an old tin mine. It really looks a bit spooky now, especially with that coast and a rough sea. Love this spot.

Best regards,

Thanks Geert. I thought it might be related to tin mining.

The calendar may say it's spring, however it's still winter in Virginia. Maybe spring was furloughed as part of the great American sequestration.

Taken in the V-position b/c I didn't like the the stuff on the right and left. I had a narrow vantage point from which to frame this shot.

love the contrast between the light on the bright yellow foreground and the rather more drab industrial background.

Thanks Braisim, I think it works well as a viewed from a distance, but close up the OoF distracts me some what.

If I was being picky I would say that it would have been better to get a few more of the flowers near to the camera in focus by increasing the depth of field somewhat.

Lovely shots Bobby. For me #3 works best. I like the light that is reflected by the water. Wonder how less foreground, more sky would work. TFS

Thanks for the comment. no 3 is probably my least favourite. lol.

No 2 is the one i like most. The green and the texture of the foreground does it for me.

Thanks again Michel

Here's a pine tree that I've been shooting for at least 10 times in the past three years and I'm never quite happy with the result. This is the best so far, I think. It was taken three days ago.

If you have LR4 you could selectively lighten the heavy shadows and show more detail, which would certainly bring your picture closer to YFU's version

What I think you missed, godsakes, is how the form of the tree echoes the form of the rocks on the right. I think that's what makes my composition stronger. I must say though that I had not noticed the tree on its own until you pointed it out, so I must give you credit. I wouldn't have got that shot without you!
