Love that rod and oiler shot. It seems like the UK is really taking care of its steam heritage.

Nicely done!

These photographs were taken at Didcot Railway Centre in Oxfordshire, UK. It is a very rich canvass of photographic opportunities.

1790 is the train number. I believe it is the Sat-Sun counterpart of 790 (Mon-Fri). Engine was F59PHI number 456. I cheated for that one: the engine is actually pushing, not pulling.

I was indeed in CA last week. Not strictly for photography, though, this time! -- My girlfriend had a conference in San Diego, so I tagged along, and we went on a little roadtrip to the desert, across the Tehachapi Mountains, and back to the shore through the Los Padres Nat'l Forest (road 33).

The Santa Fe Depot is such an amazing station. So many great shots to be had there!

Speaking of which:

You are Welcome, Mathieu!

Now, 1790 is the locomotive number, or the train number? I see you made a new photo excursion to California? We were in San Diego a couple weeks ago and my son met us at the Santa Fe depot after taking the LA to SD Surfliner

Thanks Kelly!

That is indeed southbound Surfliner number 1790 on the Gaviota bridge.

I also would like to compliment Alan for his fine set "Barnetby in Lincolnshire" and the great steam photo "Palmerston and Prince depart Dinas". A beauty!

Thank you Dr. Harout for "Frankfurt Hbf" been there many times! Hezu, so it was a dark and rainy day in Finland! It was a bad omen of electrical fires to come! See, not only Boeing 787s have that problem!

Peter, thanks for the nice CSX and NS photos!

Mikey2000, love the black and white treatment of "Steam train near Bodiam Castle".

And I'd like to wish both Michael and Mathieu both a very Happy Birthday!

And to keep thread alive with new pictures, here's one from few weeks ago:

On track 3 IC706 from Oulu is arriving to Kouvola, while IC114 on track 4 is waiting passangers and is about to depart towards Helsinki - although that particular day (I know since I was aboard) this service did not reach Helsinki since the electronics cabinet in car #3 produced some suspious smoke...

α99 + Minolta 24/2.8 @ f6.3, 1/160 s, ISO 100

And yes, in the background there is also Tk3 859 steam engine, which is on display at Kouvola railway station.
