@ MartyMoose - very cool set. I wish that more of the old railroad stations around here had been saved and repurposed. I do have a few shots of one in Springville, NY that is now a pharmacy.

A small set of Amtrak on a rainy morning:
1.

Amtrak train 284, led by locomotive 709 (a GE P32AC-DM) heads east. It has left the Depew station a few minutes ago and is about to cross over Transit road in Cheektowaga, NY.

Thanks for looking.

As a big contrast to these huge trains: here is a miniature train on the grounds of the traffic museum in Luzer (Switzerland):

I lose EXIF in HDRs

I don't know the connection between these two roads, but these locos were working the Seneca-Babcock yard in Buffalo, NY.

Thanks for looking.

We just happened to see this train one evening on our way home. The road runs parallel to the track for a while so we got ahead of it to take get out the camera. Unfortunately, I still didn't have time to put the CPL on.

Norfolk Southern passing through the east of Lancaster, NY (not PA). NS picked up most of the former Erie lines in Western New York (like this one) when CSX and NS divided up Conrail. Turns out there was some leased power on this train.

Thanks for looking.

@Johnc - nice shot of a nice loco. There is nice clarity to the air at that elevation, but it does make for very direct light. You managed to capture a good bit of detail in the darkness of the locomotive, which can be quite difficult.

Here's one of mine from August 1, 2011:

Thanks for looking.

Thank you. Enjoyed your Flickr photographs.

Union Pacific Steam Engine 844 @ Strawberry

UP 844 heads east up Weber Canyon, crossing the trestle over the Weber River at Strawberry on the 9th of November, 2012 at 8:38 a.m.! She’s on her way home to Cheyenne, WY from Sacramento, CA having just departed Ogden’s Union Station at 8:00 a.m.   A few rail fans were up early on this cold November morning to greet her (though most are out of view). A couple weeks earlier she passed here heading west on a warm October afternoon and this same spot was swarming with fans.

@beardedspoon - excellent shot. Great angle and perspective. Is the bridge in the back replaced by the one in front?

@AudioDoc - love to see the steam running. I'm guessing that this was a railfanning event, or maybe I've heard that UP is running steam again??? Maybe B&W film would have been more appropriate given the age of the locomotive, but I suppose you can scan and convert.

Here's one of mine from August 2, 2011:

Crossing the Buffalo River on the aging drawbridge near the CP draw. This area has long been the bottleneck of Buffalo railroads.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks! Both bridges are in use, though I've not been there to see trains on both bridges at the same time.
