I didn't plan for birding on that day, but today I saw some herons at the near lake.Tomorrow I am going to take closer look at them through the 600 f/4 HS G

I like the motion in the wings. It makes the photo much more dynamic. |

some of my recent attempts
This is a very rare bird a paradise fly catcher I would have bin lucky to have spotted one let alone photograph it 
this one of my first gull shot 
an ordinary egret in flight 
this was shot with the middle of summer mid day sun as back lighting, had to do little pp but all credit to the 70-400g 
70-400g mfd is great too 
this is slightly more than 100% crop extreme top left corner at 400 |

Thank you P Man. Overall I am happy with the photo. I was very excited to have several bald eagles of different maturity so close to me. I took over 50 photos of seven different eagles in a few minutes time. The shots did not turn out exactly like I had planned. Only five or six shots came out right and worked for me. I was hoping for a little more success, but thats the way it goes. Each failure I experience makes me a better photographer. (in my own mind anyway)

This week has been my first real chance to go birding with the A700. I'm much happier with the results vice the A300.
