Actually one of the peculiarities of the "cream can" is that it automatically restricts your camera to using spot focus only. Something to do with how it is possible for AF to work with it even at a fixed f8 aperture. And yes, Argentina is such a great place to be! I didn't realise until I started ID-ing shots with a bird guide that there's almost 1000 bird species in the country. Of course, except for the ducks in and around the pond, they all refuse to sit still and pose properly without lots of twigs in the way... |

Thanks for that info pdeley. Have just acquired a Sony 500 REflex and will be experimenting shortly. Until then a trio of gulls from today - with 16-105. Unfortunately rather grey this morning. Graham |

First attempts with 500 reflex - simply a pigeon! But a start.

Pigeon was actually about 30 yards away - like this due to the 500 lens, coupled with A77 and cropping.

You sure know when to press the button -- either that or you have those birds well-trained. Nice shots.

not quite trained Cam. But not at all afraid. I took these through the open window while sitting in my lounge. Now this is what I call lazy man birding! And I must admit to a little application of motor drive. Syd |
