Starting a new thread as requested - here are some shots from a visit to Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard last Saturday.
HMS Victory - a tricky pano made from 4 shots at 18mm ![]() Detail of rigging ![]() Admiral's Cabin ![]() Lower Deck ![]() Mary Rose - Henry VIII's favourite ship. Sank in 1545, raised in 1979, now being conserved in a massive chamber full of polyethylene glycol spray. Difficult to shoot through murky glass windows, in dim light - but by bracing the camera (and thanks to SSS) I managed to get some handheld shots that worked. 0.6s ISO400 ![]() 1.0s ISO100 ![]() |

There is nothing, absolutely nothing, half so much worth doing, as simply messing about in boats

Here's my "Respite" sailing on southern Lake Huron, Thanksgiving weekend. Sony a900, original Minolta 20 2.8.
Another view, from the stern... ![]() And being hauled out for winter a week later, this past weekend (a sad day). This one with the Minolta 28-135. ![]() ![]() Edited by DavidB - 31 October 2008 at 16:05 |

This is technically not a KM shot, yet it is in a way :-)
It's a view taken from a helicopter of my sailboat, "Respite" underway in the 250 statute mile race from Port Huron to Mackinac Island (the length of Lake Huron) this past summer. It was quite a wild ride! I acquired a print of the shot on the island, and copied it while underway as my wife and I were cruising later. I'm the guy in the blue shirt in the middle of the cockpit. Here it is: ![]() And here was my first attempt to copy-shoot the print while underway, with the 7D and 24-105 lens. Hmmm... must have inadvertently turned the anti-shake off. ![]() Here is a link to the story of our wild ride on my "Respite" website for those interested... click on the link at top of the homepage for a "Mac" story: http://web.mac.com/davidbannister/Respite_Site/Respite.html Edited by DavidB - 31 October 2008 at 16:47 |
