Simply: I don't have one, do I need one, or would it help me to have one? I own an A37 and have Sony manual and Friedman handbook.
I don't have any lenses which the A37 will recognize: just some old Minoltas and one Sigma.

I don't think you will need the CD. You can download the official Sony software from their support website and actually you don't even necessarily need to use those particular software tools if you prefer something else.

No. All the software is now out of date, and it wasn't particularly good to begin with. The PDF user manual - and more recent software if you want it - can be downloaded from Sony's site.

There is a firmware update for the A37. It is on Sony's website.
