Some samples, all shot with Sony A7, Fotasy MD-NEX adapter, JPEGS OOC, apertures between 5.6 and 11. I like the optical quality a lot, not bad for a lens that's 41 years old (1973 MC-X in my case).

I like your pictures a lot. I too have this lens and camera combo, and I find that I have to either use it in crop mode or crop it after the fact since the vignetting is so bad. Did you have the same experience? I'm assuming that you cropped it after the fact in the above photos.

Thank you for the nice words, actually all shots are uncropped. I find that vignetting is not an issue when stopping down to f/5.6 and completely gone at f/8 and f/11. What version of the lens do you have?

Thanks, for the response. Would you be able to post some pics showing what it looks like at 2.8? I get a prominent black circle when I adapt it to my a7,... maybe it's my adapter.

Here are samples for vignetting (camera jpeg A77 FF, no PP, cheap ebay adapter "Fotasy MD-NEX"):
f/2.8

f/4

f/5.6

Even at f/2.8 vignetting is not a major issue, at f/5.6 it's pretty much gone.

Daniel,

did you use the following adapter with the 16mm f2.8?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Fotga-Minolta-MD-Lens-to-Sony-E-mount-NEX-NEX5-NEX7-NEX5N-NEXC3-NEX-VG10-Adapter-/260890468619

I'm assuming there is no glass element on this adapter. is this correct?

Thanks,
Matt

Actually, it looks like this. I have 2 of this style, the other one has no branding on it.

Daniel,

Thanks for your help. I finally got it to work. However, I'm disappointed with the sharpness or resolution of the lens. Do you mind posting a 100% center crop of one of the above images so I can confirm that it's not just my lens. Thanks again for your help.

All samples are full resolution, just click on the image, which links to smugmug, then select original size (icon w/ small rectangles in bottom right corner).
