First thanks to everybody who voted for "The best of 2018". It was clear that among the many excelent shots there were two standouts, both received more than 30 points (no other image achieved that) and it was close until the end.

So this year we have one winner and one very close HM

This years winner is:

"The Aliens are coming (cleaned version)" by Fred_S

Congratulations Fred, splendid shot!

And a close second (and thereby HM) being:

"Friend" by kapuschinsky

Congrats to Christine as well, you almost made three in row (after best 2016 and best 2017) and again this year you provided a true winner.

And last but not least, thanks to all the other participants, putting together this DPC was a real pleasure because of the high quality photos overall. So with the amount of talent present in the Dyxum community we can really look forward to many more great photos being posted in 2019 and many valid entries (in about 10 month) in the "best of 2019" DPC.
You can see the April Foolishness 2022 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Wow!! This is an unbelievable honour to win this contest among so many talented photographers here on Dyxum Thanks all for voting, and Pieter for making this contest happen.
My sincere apologies to Christine for spoiling your hattrick party, but congrats with your HM. What an achievement to end up in the top three years in a row .
Watching the full set of this contest is a great pleasure, so many beautiful pictures!
This win shows me that it pays off to take your time for a good shot. Often I just grab the camera and shoot what comes on my path. This time I really planned the shoot, picked the location, took my sturdy tripod, waited for a calm and clear day and went out to catch the scene in and just after the blue hour.
Thanks all again, it is a great motivation to keep on shooting and posting on this great inspirational forum!

Two wonderful images, deservedly chosen.
Congratulations to both Fred and Christine, and proof again that we have some seriously talented photographic artists here in the Dyxum community. A real inspiration to all.

Good work Fred. You brought something different to the table, a shot unlike anything I had ever seen and you shot it well. That was the reason I voted for you!

Congratulations to both of you. Fred, that image is truly amazing. Not only did you have the eye to see it, you had the skill to execute your vision in a stunning and powerful way.

Christine, you are in a league of your own when it comes to capturing the gamut of emotions that children trigger in us. Well done!

Well done, Fred - it was always going to be a strong contender in any competition!

Also well done to Christine - a real contrast of an image and beautifully framed and presented.

Well done to all the other participants - you know what you now have to do this year!

Best regards, Neil.
