Hi All,

My backup camera an A7s ii as of this morning not wanting to take a picture, it will focus with a half press of the shutter, but when i fully press the shutter button... nothing. I tried a complete reset, leaving the battery out and nothing.

Next I tried the battery grip and i can take a picture using that. I just feel it is janky to use it that way. It is my back up body, so I am not paniced yet, but i have a big job coming up in a few weeks... Should I just biy a few of the replacement part from encompass and spend the time trying to repair it or just use the battery grip to take pics with it if I have to? Any suggestions or others that have had this problem?

I will have my a7r iv to be my primary camera with the a7s ii being my secondary with a prime on it and my second shooter will be using my a99ii + 24-70.

Usually I have this when I have set the camera to 10 seconds delay - as you tried a complete reset, that is not it. Also, it works with the grip.

As it works with the grip, it sounds to me like a faulty switch in the shutter button. Most likely just dirty? I don't know how easy it is to clean shutter buttons of the A7 series cameras. I know some SLT cameras suffered from dirty dials, there some threads in that.
