This is the dedicated sub forum for "Oktober fest" .

These are the final "rules” and they differ slightly from those originally posted at the start of the thread in Lens Talk.

The mission - should you chose to accept it - is:
- select ONE prime lens
- shoot with no other lens from 01-October until 31-October (your own local time)

The Rules:
- use one prime lens (a lens with a fixed focal length, no zooms allowed)
- shoot with only that prime lens for the whole of October, 00:01 on 01-Oct to 23:59 on 31-oct, your own local time
- each player is only allowed to post a maximum of one “official” image per day into their own thread and no more. But you can also post two additional shots should you really feel like it. These will be “nearlies” and will not count as official entries. Keep in mind Turerkan's task at the end of play and don't go overboard on this.
For each contestant I have been notified about, I have opened a "one prime thread" in subforum to Themed Views -- even if you don't post every day use the same thread and try to give progress reports.

Note that:
- you do not have to shoot or post every day (although some people might, see the add-on options)
- if you cheat you must declare it
- you can join after September 30 as long as you don't shoot with any other lens from 01-Oct until the time you join
How to join? Just start your own thread in this subforum of Themed Views and mention the camera and lens; you will be added to the list of players. Please PM me as well.
…………………………..
Some ADD-ON options -- entirely optional and up to you. Some people are planning one or more of the following:
- black and white only
- pic-a-day, to create 31 consecutive images
- seven shots-a-week
- no crop
A prime lens is one with a fixed focal length, it is not a zoom, and you will no longer (for one month only) have the option to pop on a longer or shorter lens.

Up for the challenge? Good luck.

Slight clarification of the rules please: 'post a maximum of one “official” image per day into their own thread and no more...' Is that taken on one day or actually posted on one day? My concern is that if (for instance) I take pics on (say) 10th and 11th, but don't get to post on 10th - is it Ok for me to catch up and post 'official' shots for both days on the 11th?

As deputy-dawg for Oktoberfest let me draw your attention to the Notes: "- you do not have to shoot or post every day". So the answer is yes.

We trust you Bob.
