New link added in the External Resources section - look for The Ultimate Legal Guide for Photographers. Although it covers US/UK regulations I think that it's worth taking a look at it.

Hi; thanks for the reply.
Glad to talk w an owner of the 5D. I'm one too. I still have it. I've held on to it because as far as I know it's the last camera Minolta made. It came out after the 7D. I've loved Minolta since I bought the SRT 101 new, and have only bought Minolta's since. I still have an X-570. by Coast, on Flickr I've had it for decades. Talk about brand loyalty. Thats how good the SRT 101 was. I have a Sony now because it is the successor of Minolta Yes there is a lot here @ Dyxum. If one is just starting here it probably is different than if one has been here from the start. Glad to be writing w someone who has . I'm not a tech, nor do I make my money from my photos. I just like to take pictures and have been all my life (A great hobby). So sometimes I just get lost in all the tech. Cameras are all tech today. Just a suggestion, thanks: Coast/Joseph |

@Coast / Joseph
I had no idea you'd found it that hard. When I joined Dyxum had but 3 cameras (the Minolta 5D, 7D and the Sony a100), and a smattering of lenses. It was simple as we had so few things to discuss- yet somehow exciting as no-one knew what direction Sony would take the mount. I appreciate it's got a lot more complicated since then! Perhaps it is appropriate something be added? |

I have a suggestion; something that would have helped me immensely. First:
I came to Dyxum "cold". No one directed me here, I had never heard of Dyxum. I was only in 1 rather small niche photo club / forum and it was mostly Canon folks. So I did a search and came up w Dyxum. Which is all Minolta & Sony, thats me, Minolta all my life and now Sony. Euro based, where I was born, it's my Fatherland, for which I have an affinity. So great this is for me. Not having knowledge about Dyxum. I found it more complex and complete than my prior club and had difficulty navigating it. I wasted a lot of time looking for things, but more important I probably wasted a lot of admin time correcting my many mistakes. I had a very rough start, much of which was frustration. Thanks for not having kicked me out. So my suggestion is: If had had been aware of this 1 fabulous post. My start here would have been much smoother. this post could be renamed "Learning Basic Dyxum" When newbies fill out their profile they need to come here and sign off that they know at least its here and hopefully are a little familiar I know I have yet only scratched the surface. But I really enjoy all the fabulous photos here, Love it, and enjoy making small contributions and sharing what I have. Thank you; Joseph |

Sadly, you did not. I just don't seem to be able to produce those sorts of contributions, of late... I'm zero for about... oh, four or five of my recent stabs at producing cohesive bits of online documentation... - Steve S. |

Thanks Steve. I have been thinking the same about where it might best be shown. I will post here when I figure that out.

@Brettania: That is what I meant, yes thanks! I'll try to look for any problems, but my cursory glance says it's very good indeed... Where does this exist as a link/topic/etc? Is it best found using Forum-search-engine??? I was looking for a "glossary" entry amongst the "Learning Topics" and "Articles" indices, and didn't spot it. Is it a lone thread, un-linked in any of the lists-of-reference-materials...? Might be worth entries for "SR" (and MC, MD), Rokkor, Celtic, and even "Vectis," to help clarify the confused. "AF" should probably be updated to mention SAM (currently only has screw-drive & SSM), and "Ev" changed to "EV". Maybe update "DT" to something like "DT = KM/Sony lens whose image doesn't fill the 35mm film frame (intended for digial bodies with APS-C sized sensos, but FF digital bodies can auto-crop (to about half-size))" RE CaNikon topics: it's not really that I want a comprehensive "here's how CaNikon does it," but more of a "translation guide" -- for any given Amount-specific (not digital-photography-generic) jargon, what's the equivalent in Canonese and Nikonese. Granted, this is lower priority than other things might be, but IMHO has value. For example, I see we have most of the Tamron/Sigma tech-equivalents to OEM Alpha lens tech's. For example, where MinO/KM/Sony has "DT," Tamron has "Di II" & Sigma has "DC" (why not list Nikon's "DX" and Canon's "EF-S"?); where MinO/KM/Sony has "SSM," Tamron has "USD" & Sigma has "HSM"; etc. It's hit-or-miss on these... Canon's "USM" (!) is listed (without reference to comparable Amount tech) as are many of the examples I cited here... but Tamron USD isn't... but Fujinon's "EBC" (via m43 mount) is??? Still: overall, an EXCELLENT bit of work. I just wish I'd been able to find it without moderator assistance... - Steve S. |

BTW -- I don't see the need to explain abbreviations used for Canikon etc systems. These things take many hours to compile.

How does one attach a photo to a thread?
