Why is the battery grip of the A200 named VG-B30AM and not VG-B20AM?

The battery grip of the A700 is named VG-C70AM
For the KM 7D it is VC-7D

Clearly there is a pattern here.

This leads me to think that Sony developed the battery grip for an A300, and that the grip is made to fit both A200 and a forthcoming A300 model

Now if they would just leak some info concerning an A900 and then I would be happy as a pig in poop.

Waiting and watching ...

What more do you want? You know its coming out this year. You have high res images of it. You know its inerface will be like the A700. You know the rear LCD will be 640x480 like the A700.

Well Shao, we don't know when it's coming. We don't know what sensor and its corresponding quality. We don't know its price. I don't know if its FF. We don't know how its sensor noise performs at varying (ISO).

We don't know much else other than some nice pictures. But I am patient, so let's see ... even if it comes out tomorrow, I will probably wait to see what the price drop is after initial introduction.

Man, am I asking for too much - I guess the short answer is yes.

If you're reffering to the body with the tilting LV screen, well... no, that's not A300. At least that's what we were led to believe by a "higher power" ;)

cezar: well i said a300 generally.. the point is, if the grip is compatible with two entry level models, i see no reason to believe a third one won't be compatible ;)

i never said it wouldn't be compatible with the A300, i merely pointed out that the live-view model isn't A300

What is the point in an expensive lcd? Surely an expensive viewfinder is way more important?
-Yes sir, it has a 12mp CMOS sensor, ISO6400 capability, 11 point autofocus, HD capability, Live-view, SSS, one of the most technologically advanced...-Great, and how do you load the film?

While a larger LCD is really handy to have .. i agree with you completely; for me personally viewfinder is one of the most critical part of any camera and my primary reason i wait for a FF body.

Kiklop: The viewfinder on my old bodies is a big reason why I still shoot film. The Minolta 9000 viewfinder is still, in my opinion, unbeatable. It has the absolutly amazingly high resolution pentaprism coupled with the manual focus guide arrows. Just perfect, unadulterated camera design is what that camera is. Something the A100 lacks; it is practically impossible to use manual focus - a real problem with my lensbaby!

viewfinder is much more important than LCD imho. give me a good viewfinder, i might giveup rear screen all together for that..

however, in entry level SLR market the target audience is not those who know the difference between a good and a bad viewfinder. Sadly marketing requires products that meets the market demand and be at lowest cost possible.. if customers do not ask for good viewfinder, then why put a good viewfinder?..
