We will also see a a800 AND A1000!!!!!

I hope that is true, I could probably afford a A700 replacement if the price is right.

And this A1000 has got a 'full pro body', right ?

I don't know, I think the "Full Pro Body" is on the way out. If they do make one it will be more of a statement than a viable product. IMO they would do more for the system by releasing a lower resolution FF body that can take on the D700 in the low light situations. They could just as easily beef up the weather sealing on the 900 style body and then call it "Pro" they could have called it pro as it is.

I will not play into this discussion, beyond what the tight lipped Sony Rep told me last week.

"Wait two months."

This was as Roberts Distributors Spring Expo, where they has Reps from all of their major suppliers. This was last Friday.

I will patiently wait with both my A700s and hope for something between a 700 and a 900.
A very few things alpha leftt

Two months sounds fine. It should be about the time I can afford an A800. Allthough, not buying it the minute it hits the store is mostly a good thing, gives reviewers time to try it out before I do.

I'm not too eager to be the guinea pig that finds out that my new A800 which cost me $1500-$2500 has serious issues or is desperately in need of a firmware update. (like the A700 perhaps?)

Even though Sony has a lot of experience and are taking the whole Alpha line rather seriously I would be disappointed but not surprised if there were issues. It happens to everyone including Canikon.

Canikon can afford issues, because no one cares.

Sony lacks that kind of market position, so they really have to get it right when they ship it.

Since the lenses are not weather sealed, I doubt they would do that.

If an A1000 comes to be I think it will simply add features & refinements over the A900 rather than pro level build.

I hope Sony will give us a FF 16Mpx camera with more cross-sensors, a better AF-system and AF-microadjustment. That would complement my A700 perfectly. Something like the D700, but a few more Mpx wouldn't hurt

Personally I'm one of those who don't want to see the A700 replacement with an FF sensor. This would mean that the 200mm end of the 70-200/2,8 beeing to short for me. The pros with FF does not compensate for the fact that I loose the tele end.

I don't think buying any new camerw would make you a guinea pig . Was the A700 noise problem a serious issue? Definately not. It may have been in some peoples mind, but they are likely the gear headed, pixel-peeping generation, rather than the people that actually take photographs. If you buy the A800 it will still be a good camera, with all the basic functions of a camera - if any of them fail, then yes, it's a serious problem, but we haven't seen that yet from Sony... it would be pessimistic to assume we would so. Have more faith in Sony .

This still doesn't make sense to me, why Sony doesn't make a pro-level body based on the Maxxum 9?

I have never had one, but some people say that the Maxxum 9 is even better and more pro-level than a EOS-1
