It's a tempting idea - the hotel is £25 and return rail travel from Oxford £30, if I get a senior rail card. I'll confirm in a day or two.

I've an idea I'm off that week .
Not sure about the Sunday but possibly starting the Monday . I'll check on that , if so , I'm up for a meet up . The rest of the week I'm planning on heading off over to Holmefirth in my campervan . |

Hold my horses, darn, etc. I have been invited to a family event in the Netherlands on the same day. After all that work securing split tickets and advance hotel rooms too! But 65th wedding anniversaries are as rare as hens' teeth and can't be missed really. So with sorrow I have to withdraw ...
Apologies, Howard |

Sorry to hear you can't make it Howard - I am still sitting on the fence to see how my back improves. It should be fine, but healing is not as quick as it used to be.

It's a shame you can't make it Howard , I was going to bring some of my Vectis gear for you to have a play with .
It is the 9/10th November I start my holiday , so if anyone is still up for a meet the Sunday might be best . that would work for a visit to Salford quays in the evening for some night shots . Failing that another weekend when folks are better able to make it over the winter for the dark nights could be organized ? To be honest , I tend to stay away from town as it's too crowded , so I'm looking into other parts I've not been local to the city center , so I should have quite a few interesting spots marked up by then . A wide view of Salford Quays by Neil , on Flickr |

Neil, I have a train ticket and a hotel room I should be able to transfer at not too much cost. I don't want to pull anyone away from Alan's sojourn and it sounds like the end of Sunday afternoon onwards is up for some good photography. I'd be glad for a niche VectisFest and a photowalk combined with an overnight stay - would you like to DM me a date range you're free and I'll see what I can work with Travelodge and CrossCountry rail. |

That's an unfortunate coincidence. I'll still stay over on my way home from the north east. I'm on Mull now, our 50th wedding anniversary was yesterday, spent cycling in wind, rain and sleet from Iona, now in a comfortable cottage for a week. Hope your back improves soon, Phil.

Indeed! Normally when my backs acting up I tend to have a soak in a hot bath with radox in it . I've always found it awkward to sit on a fence ! |
