It looks like a Samsung camera

It is a 37,4 Megapixel Full Frame sensor developed in house (SAR source: “and produced by Sony”). Some interesting ideas like the SSD and the direct upload of the images on Internet. The Sigma flash is surprising. It is not the lens in the RX1r.

Wonder how that's going to work, not the software but the subscription.

I'm guessing it's actually Lr Mobile which is a free app anyways.

While this camera has on paper some interesting innovations / deviations from the established way of doing things, it is ugly (a matter of taste to debate among lovers and haters), possibly have quirky / new ways of handling (did not hold one in my hands) and is going to be expensive.

Congratulations to Zeiss for trying new things, I hope it sells well enough to allow for future iterations.

Also would be interesting to know who is manufacturing this camera - is it Zeiss itself or somebody else? Is most of the internal stuff done by Sony or somebody else? With the looks of the camera reminiscent of the Sigma Quartos and some of their lenses and the flash supporting Sigma (and not Sony) protocols, I am wondering how much involvement did Sigma have in this project.
mehr licht!

The image looks like an early CAD drawing to me, with obvious things like panel joins missing, as well as all the buttons and covers it will need.

An interesting concept, though, with the large SSD and built-in LR app. A surprising convergence to mobile phone functionality from an unexpected direction.* I wonder if it will catch on?

* Maybe they should go all the way and put a phone inside it too. It will be interesting to see people holding their cameras up to their ears instead of their eyes.
Miranda F & Sensorex, Sony A7Rii, A58, Nex-6, Dynax 4, 5, 60, 500si/600si/700si/800si, various Sony & Minolta lenses, several Tamrons, lots of MF primes and *far* too many old film cameras ...

I do not think so. It probably is carved out of a block of aluminium, just like the Leica T. It probably operates with the touchscreen, just like the Leica T, so, no need for buttons. And it only needs two covers, for the hotshoe (you can see that one) and for the battery (that is on the bottom)

It is a 3D rendering. Even if the structural details are all correctly represented, the hard part after that is giving the object convincing textures and nuanced lighting.

The IKEA catalogue also is a rendering these days

That camera is the size of a small suitcase!   Does it fit into standard airline hand luggage rules?

Actually, I’ve got a mug that looks like a camera lens, so why not have a novelty suitcase that looks like a camera? Or a kettle that looks like a flashgun?
